I am the same way....
abortion = pro-choice
drugs = legalize them all
gay marriage = more power to them
so long as it doen\'t hurt me, I like to stay out of other\'s buisness, let them run their own lives and let them choose what they feel is best for them. Other than capital punishment, I pretty much agree with every democratic social view.
BUT, nothing angers me more than seeing the 30% + that gets jacked from my paycheck every week.... and I tend to vote for my wallet at the expense of my social beliefs.
Yeah taxes suck but when you lose your job due to no fault of your own and need to use unemployment until you find another job, you will be glad you had unemployment tax taken out each check. When you are older and need supplementary income you will be glad Social Security was taken out. When you get hurt on the job you will be glad for your state\'s worker\'s compensation which you also contribute to w/ taxes. I could go on. Now if you never need these that\'s great but in case you do need them remember it\'s not just you paying for them but every working person in America helping each other out.
Now my problem w/ taxes are how they are portioned out but that is another issue entirely.
and if your house catches fire in the middle of the night....taxes seem well spent

i remember a day not so long ago when all the traders, brokers, secretarys,lighting directors,janitors,food service workers,riding teachers and the like were all running out and we all saw who was running in
Now I saw plenty of normal Joes and Jills NOT running away and attempting to help those that had fallen or to help the civil servants there on scene. These people had no obligaton to help yet did. I applaud those that did their job and did it well but they would have had an even tougher time w/o those few that truly showed altruism.
