trust me, youd be really suprised how much bands make when they are selling out arenas 2 or 3 nights a week at 40 beans a ticket.
trust ME, you\'d be REALLY surprised how LITTLE of that money bands actually take home. and often, even mainstream, popular acts end up OWING money to someone. the business is kinda
**** and has been for a while.

i really don\'t want to harp on the subject but to add my 2 cents... it is very true that many bands end up owing money after a tour (usually bands signing their first record deals)... but phish became an enterprise around \'98 and i am sure they were keeping plenty of the cash from the proceeding tours. Phish is more than a band, they were/are a money making machine. While it would be naive to think that money doesn\'t motivate anyone to get on the road and tour, i think it would be exceedingly cynical to think anything but the main reason these guys would get back together would be for the love of the music.
having said that... my biggest qualm with them getting back together would be issues with band practice and repertoire. I remember trey saying something to the tune of it was a crime to charge people $75+ facevalue for a show when they didn\'t ever practice. the problem there was that post hiatus shows were full of amazing moments, but contained dull and off putting ones as well. And though i agree with Wolf on the sheer impossibility of recapturing and relearning all their material, i am a huge fan of some of the new(er) stuff.... i actually put undermind into my car last week and enjoyed it for the first time ever. never really dug it before, but round room is the
****. no doubt about that.
anyway i think i\'d just feel a little out of place a phish show nowadays... it all feels like a distant magical dream. and now that i\'ve awoken and accepted that i won\'t ever be back in that dream, i\'m not sure if it would be fair to myself to try and do so.
if you dont think they are all loaded your buggin. They might not be megarich but they are all multi-millionaires a few times over. They sold hundreds of thousands (maybe millions?) of concert tickets, have sold millions of recrords, and they still get fat pay checks and will for a long time for sales of their music and merchandise. I\'m sure they have investments and money management stuff too.
It\'s very, very hard for any of us to know. There are hundreds of variables that we just aren\'t privvy to. What does x+y-(3a+45y/3c/d)-65(.4pk)(12c-x/4) equal? Yep. We have absolutely no idea.

You\'re missing the reference that\'s all.
I\'ve been listening to too much Phish again lately. And some of these shows are blowing my mind all over again.
IF PHISH REUNITES:::
Trey must practice guitar so he can at least play half the stuff he played in the 90\'s.
Trey must keep away from hard drugs.
That\'s pretty much the formula for success right there.
If they reunite will I be there?? Oh hell yes.
http://www.popmatters.com/pm/news/article/59406/phish-lyricist-in-studio-with-anastasio-hints-at-phish-return/article re: tom marshall\'s thoughts on the possiblity of a phish reunion
some highlights:
Phish lyricist Tom Marshall, Trey Anastasio’s longtime friend and writing partner, said in an exclusive interview Tuesday that
“Trey wants Phish to come back.”Marshall was elated about his recent work in the studio with Anastasio. “We’re on our fourteenth, fifteenth song in like two months,” said Marshall. “We’re extremely productive and got the drive again.
I have the old Trey back, which is incredible.”
When pressed about where these new songs will end up, Marshall said they “could take a left turn into the Trey Anastasio Band or a straight turn to Phish.”
i read that whole article, really cool stuff. maybe it will happen after all.
they should play theaters only if they return
