Live with it people.
Of course, this is the kind of talk I expect out of inexperienced Phishermen.
The best part of it all is that you don\'t need to like it.
My friend Michael is in St. Louis to see Phish and visit his mom.
He posted this earlier in the morning (but I just saw it) over on the TLG Forum thought I\'d share.
His forum name is onthebus thus otb in the conversation.
"So I just met Trey and Mike and Page. Basically just said hi to Mike and Page, but chatted a little bit with Red. I waved at him from a distance, and he came over to talk to me. Here is how it went:
otb: "Hi!"
ta: "Hey. I\'m Trey. Nice to meet you."
otb: ::giggles:: "I\'m Michael. It\'s very nice to meet you. I just wanted to say hi and thank you for everything you have given me."
ta: "Thank YOU. So, where are you from?"
otb: "Originally I\'m from St. Louis, but I live in California now. I came in for tonight\'s show... My mom is very happy with you, since she gets to see me thanks to your show."
ta: ::laughs:: "Glad we could help!"
otb: "Bonnaroo sounded great... it had to be a thrill to be up there with Bruce."
ta: "Absolutely. It was a dream... fantastic time. We got to play some cool tunes too."
otb: "I was surprised by Bobby Jean."
ta: "Yeah, that was my one request." ::big grin::
otb: "That\'s what I thought. "We liked the same music we liked the same bands."
ta: "Exactly!" ::huge smile::
otb: "Thank you again. Have a good show tonight."
ta: "Yeah, you have fun too. Say hi to mom."
He started to walk away, and I said,
otb: "What do you think about playing Sleep tonight?"
ta: ::pauses, turns around:: "Sleep... that sounds good, I like that." ::Big smile, walks away::
So I have that going for me."
He hasn\'t posted since but I\'m sure he was stoked to actually get his request as the set list tonight shows.

Pretty cool I thought.
That is great! Sounds like a typical Trey sighting and interaction.
Actually had been singing Sleep for the last couple of days.
I think Sleep is a great request. You have to request something rarer and less played. I probably would have said It\'s Ice without thinking but that would be me and then I might be classified as a newb tool. That is my opinion.
What would you request if that same situation happened?
Couldn\'t be anything they have already played or you\'d be a newb tool, too.
First Rift since Hampton too.
Little McGrupp as well, woo-hoo.
Amazing at the amount of material they keep pulling out. Some rarities exist.
What would you request if that same situation happened?
In no particular order except for the first one;
1. The Old Home Place (LTP - 4/15/04)
Brother (LTP - 8/2/03)
Axilla - Part II (LTP - 12/31/95)
Ha Ha Ha (LTP - 7/15/03)
Walfredo (LTP - 9/30/00)

HA HA HA and Axilla completely forgotten and definitely has me reconsidering It\'s Ice. HA HA HA especially even though it is nothing special.

Best picture that sums it all up.
What would you request if that same situation happened?
Tela.
But I don\'t think I\'d base my request on already-played-ness or n00b status... moreso what I want to hear them play that night

Tela is another good one.
I what I meant by Newb Tool Status is requesting something they play regularly, like requesting Antelope (my fav) or something along those lines.. Tela hasn\'t been played since 98?
I\'d rather see a Breakfast show than a Phish show right now.
whatever
Sorry Cactus don\'t take it personally!
believe me...there is nothing i take seriously or personally from a man who wears purple tinted glasses....
I\'ve listened to everything but St Louis so far and I haven\'t been overly impressed yet. Granted, I haven\'t been to any of their shows so all I have to go by are the livephish releases. Overall, Jones Beach seemed pretty good and had a good mix of songs. Camden had a solid first set but other than that only the Sand and Tweezer stuck out. Seems like the Ashville > Knoxville run was the best so far. Bonnaroo seemed quite weak to me and I would have been disappointed at the song selection had I been there in person. Yeah, it had its highs but it also had plenty of lows. Though the execution wasn\'t smooth between the songs I will give them credit for at least trying to pull off the Harry Hood > Highway To Hell > 2001 > YEM > Wilson > YEM. The Bruce sit-in was alright but why would they play Glory Days when he played it during his set the night before? After Rock and Roll it seemed like they mailed it in. Overall, the new songs sounds pretty good and are getting better each time they play them. However, Alaska may be the worst song I\'ve ever heard they play before and hopefully they shelve it sooner than Jennifer Dances. It sounds like a weak ripoff of a typical first set Grateful Dead song (like Mississippi Half Step).
Now, I understand it\'s their first full tour in 5 years so maybe I\'m being too critical of their playing but it just seems like they\'re not taking chances like they used to. Most of their songs don\'t get played much longer than their basic version. The whole concept behind Phish, in my mind, was they would take most of their songs and experiment/jam them out to see what they could create. Outside of their heavy hitters, they\'ve rarely done this in 2009.
I\'m glad to see they\'re back on the road again but I am not upset about selling off my 2nd leg tickets to go to Camp Barefoot instead. I figure they\'ll have more shows/practices under their belt come Fall tour and I\'ll hit up a show then. Hopefully they\'ll be able to piece together a complete show by then instead of ~1 set of solid music.
Sweet! I knew those were a good investment

Interchangeable as they are, I find the purple lenses are most effective for ribbon reflecting and serpent deflecting... besides, I hate laser beams.
The Bruce sit-in was alright but why would they play Glory Days when he played it during his set the night before?
Just as a side note, Bruce plays about 60% of the same songs each night and supplements the rest of the show with alternate fan favorites/rare songs/covers... Pretty much the Jam Band genre is the only bunch that doesn\'t repeat songs in back-to-back shows... The three songs they jammed on were probably a very good selection... Mustang Sally is a classic standard that the band/bruce could actually jam on... Bobby Jean was a Trey request... Glory Days was probably played because most people know/like it and it\'s a fairly easy song to learn on the fly... There\'s like only 10 bruce songs that most people know, you be the judge:
- Born To Run (would have been too obvious)
- Born In The USA (not the crowd for this tune)
- Hungry Heart
- Glory Days
- Dancing In The Dark
- My Hometown (depressing)
- Thunder Road (not the crowd for this tune)
- Streets of Philadelphia
If I had my choice, and the band/bruce had a chance to practice the tunes, I would have gone w/ Glory Days, Bobby Jean, Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)... But you can\'t really complaign...
Alaska was a Trey tune and should have stayed that way, imo.

hahaha. Great post.
Agreed regarding "Alaska" and its relative suck
