i fully expected you to prefer soundboards, actually.
i definitely thought the yem restart was a joke. seemed pretty obvious to me at the time, anyway...
I guess the joke doesn\'t transfer well to tape. It just sounded like they
**** up to me.

And two questions. What\'s with the drum in front of the amp? And is that a bell mixed in with Mike\'s pedals?
ooh, thanks for the fmt=22 trick. i knew about fmt=18, but that didn\'t give me the desired effect.
i noticed the drum in my pics from night 1. we were wondering the same thing. now in the videos, i see something mic\'d on the right side of mike\'s pedals - is that what you\'re talking about? i thought it kinda looked like a fan, but again, no idea.
its prob a subkick. its a speaker for bass drums to give added depth to the low end. vinnie amico and allen acouin use them.
i think the bell is what mike uses when he funks the
**** out a jam, or wants to lead the jam. listen to the worcester moma from 2/26/03. he stomps the bell and unleashes the fury
or maybe it was part of the "joke"
How quickly we all become critics.
This is why I\'ve only listened to each show once so far. I\'m ready for the summer.
Molly space cakes can be done just make sure to add some extra sugar.
my .02 on the weekend:
i had only seen phish play a few times before these three hampton shows. since 04 i have been listening to phish regularly and have always have a pretty serious obsession with all things related to the music. experience wise i had the time of my life with my close friends there just enjoying the music we hadn\'t heard live in years.
that being said, as a self-proclaimed phish analyst, after re-listening to the shows..musically the weekend didn\'t live up to my expectations. sure they nailed a lot of parts of their compositions. but - they should be able to do that, it\'s their music. at the shows i told myself that they nailed the \'important\' parts. upon a closer listen, there are far too many mistakes, flubs, and there is too much of a general disconnect between band members for the shows this weekend to be considered \'great\' musically in my opinion. however, among the many rough patches of hood, reba, pyite, mike\'s etc., there were a handful of really high points from the weekend.
tweezer, gin, foam, guelah, bag, tube, bowie, dwd and more made the weekend\'s top picks for me. the first two shows in terms of the music didn\'t live up to the exploration or tightness that sunday had..but even though sunday was a really good phish show, it wasn\'t near their full potential. don\'t get me wrong, i was incredibly grateful to see these guys play this weekend, i just felt that something was off.
that being said, i like to believe the theory that they got better each night of hampton and with three months of practice, summer tour will be that much better. i\'m set to see a lot of shows this summer that i\'ll be going to no matter what, I just hope I can fully enjoy my phish experience with them playing at their absolute best (much like other bands i see often do).
I think night three is the best show musically. Some great jams and overall the tightest. Totally surprised by Undermind, Tube was sick, Foam was almost perfect, I always love Maze and this was no exception, Frankenstein was nasty. I just like the energy of this show. Trey\'s little play on Sanity was great to hear, and crowd participation in Wilson was huuuuge.
Flubs of the weekend that stood out to me were definitely PYITE and YEM. No doubt that was a genuine flubbed start in YEM, but believe what you want.

Favorite flub corrected was Birds of a Feather, when Trey spat out as quickly as possible "Like whippets they dance....." after
**** it up. Reba was the biggest disappointment for me, the jam didn\'t go anywhere and I was hoping for a monster. Hood was weak sauce too.
All in all,
**** STOKED for June!!!
to the mild discontent I\'m reading, I give you this absolute genius clip of Louis CK from Conan titled "Everything\'s Amazing, Nobody\'s Happy": enjoy... but you probably won\'t:
