u2 from \'80-\'89 ruled...
u2 took a few big dumps from \'90-\'99 with the exception of a few great tunes.
u2 \'00 to date has been pretty good, but I don\'t feel the political angst in their songs that initially drove me.
They need to lock themselves and listen to 40 days and 40 nights of The Wolftones and get back to their roots...
no worries gordo. My "rebuttal" is that i don\'t completely understand what you are saying, but i respect your opinions and i\'d love to have a beer with you at the next breakfast show and talk Phish! And i hope you won\'t untag our cute facebook picture together!
Ha! Of course I wouldn\'t untag and I hope a beer/Breakfast/Phish talk happens, really. I may have been overgeneralizing you a bit too, but my point in the end is I don\'t like being a part of any scene that thinks they have "figured it out," whatever "it" may be (in this case music), and others who "don\'t get it" are mentally insufficient in some fashion.
so of the people who were there all 3 nights, what was the best show?
Night 3 Length
Set 1 - 1 hour 55 minutes 30 seconds
Set 2 - 1 hour 21 minutes 51 seconds
Encores - 19 minutes 49 seconds
Total time - 3 hours 37 minutes 30 seconds
Looks like night three was the longest show of the three. But all were pushing 3-1/2 hours or greater. Not a bad start to the tour...
i wasn\'t there but i can honestly say i\'d rather listen to any bfast show on archive than the 3/6/09 phish show i just downloaded. not doin it for me.

:applause: Earlier in this thread I said fans buying Trey a new Ross, and Trey posting a letter in response is the Phish community at it\'s very best and it makes me proud to be part of it. The bullshit attitude highlighted above is the worst, and it has probably kept me from being a bigger fan. What these holier than thou kids don\'t get is the best part of Phish for me is how they take from so many different musical influences that people who enjoy them can have very little in common with their musical taste outside of Phish. I think alot of people with this attitude miss out on some of the teases, covers and nods to their influences that make the music special. One of the things I like best about the Breakfast scene is it\'s pretty void of these jerks, and people here seem to like alot of other music.

It looks like all of my calculations are a tad off, except for night 3...
Night 1 LengthSet 1 - 1 hour 53 minutes 54 seconds
Set 2 - 1 hour 33 minutes 40 seconds
Encores - 13 minutes 5 seconds
Total length - 3 hours 40 minutes 39 seconds (I didn\'t add the encores to the total time)
Night 2Set 1 - 1 hour 48 minutes 30 seconds
Set 2 - 1 hour 25 minutes 7 seconds
Encore - 5 minutes 17 seconds
Total length - 3 hours 18 minutes 54 seconds
For these being the first three shows of the year 2009 .. well I had high but not unreasonable expectations for their return and in my mind these shows are pretty impressive considering how badly they sucked for the most part in 04 .... a little more practice and a little less hard drugs goes a long way!
I\'m stoked this will obviously be a sick summer/fall tour.
btw... sick "Tube" !

Indeed sir. I am absolutely with you. A perfect example to support your stance is when kidzzz are all of the sudden big fans of an artist that Phish just covered for the first time, and otherwise would (or already have in the past) smack it down for being too poppy or mainstream.
On a happy note, I am EXTREMELY pleased with what I have listened to so far. Things will only get much more interesting throughout the summer. I\'m expecting some great shows in June.
lil weezy and u2 both suck.
last set of the weekend was the best , imo
sweet jams, and everything sounded pretty crisp
i suppose i should have noted i was not there.... but i think that was well enough known by now
