anybody know of close hotels around jones beach?

There\'s nothing right nearby that I know of.  All the way up on the Meadowbrook there\'s a few by the mall and Nassau Coliseum. But there could also be some off the Meadbowbrook, or Southern State.

By the mall/Coliseum, there\'s the Marriott, Red Roof Inn, Holiday Inn.  There\'s also a bunch by JFK airport, which is off the Belt Parkway.

Don\'t know where you\'re coming from.

Hope that helps a little.  If you find one in another town, give a shoutout and I\'ll let you know if the town\'s sketchy or not.

thanks.....i got one about 10 miles away, not sure if i\'m going to keep it or not

on a different note, I just saw the Fox only holds 5060 people....Imagine scoring those tix

just out of curiosity, how many two-set concert dvds do you own? because i\'ve never seen more than one 1.5 hourish long set per disc.

Phish - Vegas, Live In Brooklyn and Walnut Creek are all 2-set shows on one disc.

Where praytell do you buy DVDs and how do I get there?  I have Brooklyn and Walnut Creek and they\'re both on 2 discs, one set per disc.  Are you sure?

shitty venue since it\'s been great woods......cops **** down hard lately there

If you so much as have a colored cup in your hand, even if it is EMPTY, you will be kicked off of lot. (And if you\'re KOL you won\'t ever even see the venue much less get in.)  If you bust out any apparatus that can heat food, you are instantly KOL.  If you try to sell ANYTHING, be it tofu burritos or hemp necklaces or even tickets, that is instant KOL.  DO NOT drink, smoke, eat, play Frisbee, or do ANYTHING in this lot besides make a beeline straight into the venue.  Even if you are doing NOTHING AT ALL you will be harassed to make your way into the venue.  God help you if you get to the lot more than an hour early, it\'s hard NOT to get KOL.  I highly recommend ganja food, leave the nugs and bowl at home, there\'s just too much at stake.

Fair enough, I was wrong on Brooklyn and Walnut Creek, but Vegas is 2 sets and definitely one disc.  My point was that it is possible to put 2 sets on one disc.

the beach used to be dope...i have been going there for my whole life...but then they added a top section of seats and that just made it crummy...but the stage is set in the water and it doesnt get much better then that....
maybe the sun will shine today...

wow - that is really shitty.

My last music experience and the security: band at a small club/bar in SF on Sat night - owner sitting on top of the bar watching the stage with a joint in hand.  Where the F are you gonna get that in NYC or the Northeast?

my last time at great woods was the last phish show there.

We set off a $550, 26 minute firework display complete with fake-out ending followed by epic grand finale in the parking lot after the show.

probably the reason they are so **** now hahaha

Nice. In 2000 I happened to be sitting next to Mike\'s parents and we smoekd a couple of bowls during the show.  Mike\'s dad looks exactly like 60-year-old Mike.

YUP! Thats SO funny dude I have met Mikes parents too I think it was great woods also. Did they play two nights there in summer 2000? Anyway they are SUPER nice. We met them in the lot and they hooked up me and my girl with two tickets for like 20 bucks each. They didnt want any money but I made em take at least a little.  The seats were right nezt to theirs and we didnt sit there but we visited with them at set break. VERY nice and cool folks.   I also met pages sister (who lives in o-twizz), brother in law, mom, and dad...all equally nice :)

I got a ticket for drinking in the parking lot many years ago while waiting to see Lynyrd Skynyrd.  I was in my car, drinking out of a cup... still got busted.  The cop thought that I had my engine running (which would have been much worse), but I told him it was his car that he was hearing.

But in the end I can\'t complain too much because I had free tickets to the show.  Just don\'t be obvious and you\'ll be ok.

I went to a Rush show at Great Woods two years ago and there was alot of tail-gating and drinking going on, along with some nuggage.

Went to Tool later that summer, same deal. There were cops on bikes and golf carts at the tool show, but they didn\'t harass us that bad.

Cops:"Are you doing anything you shouldn\'t be?"
Us: "No."
