Now THAT would start to look like a summer tour. F this 12-show all east "tour". Weaksauce. And I\'m not even on the west coast, 2000 miles from the nearest show. What, they\'re "back"...to play 20 shows a year? If they\'re really back let\'s see 75-100 shows a year. Let\'s get 3 and 4 night runs. Hell, why not play Shoreline or MSG 8 nights in a row? Then we\'ll be talking. And all this ticket nonsense would in large part subside. I know I\'m dreaming and they never played this much after 98, but hey, the Dead were well over 100 shows a year into their 50\'s. If Phish is to totally kick ass they\'ll get up to 75-100 shows a year.

See, I think 50 shows a year for Phish is half-ass. If we\'re talking about a studio band that makes radio hits and only plays token live shows because they have to that\'s one thing. But Phish is the opposite. As we all know, their entire raison d\'etre is to play live, and they only make token albums because they have to. (Of course, many of the albums are phenomenal, but obviously Phish is about the shows. Everything else is supplementary at best.)
If they\'re ser about this, then the 2009 summer tour will be 25+ shows coast to coast, ditto for fall tour, then 10 show holiday tour...boom...60 shows. And in 2010 they do the same plus a 20 show spring tour and a 10 show Europe or Japan run for 80-90 shows.
i think they\'re essentially dipping a toe in the water to see how successfully they can pull this off (ie, how many shows til trey starts injecting pills directly to his aorta), and if it works out ok, i think we will see more multi-day runs more spread out across the country. i know they really want to cut back on the massive traveling circus they bring along everywhere and i think that would definitely be the best way.... that way folks could travel to their closest 5 night run, and not necessarily have to go to every show. but you\'re right, so far they really need more dates!!
and i will say one positive thing for livenation (and one thing only) - we did get our tickets fast as hell...

they aren\'t marked. you have to look for the Crozet, VA return address (also probably a reason i got them before you, i\'m only about an hour and a half from crozet). i threw away our star lakes last night because i thought it was a credit card offer. luckily, i don\'t take out the trash everyday...

how\'s it going folks? i moved out to san francisco about a year ago and i love it out here but i miss being able to drive up the road and see the breakfast as well as party with the rest of you clowns.
i got to see the boys when they rolled through town last october which was a nice treat and i helped arrange a timmy show while he was visiting last month which gave me my timmy tour fix for a while but i still haven\'t gotten to see the rest of you crazy cats in far too long! i\'m flying to va next month to check out phish 3.0 and was hoping to run into some of you while i\'m there.
i\'ve also spoken to tim and it looks like he will be playing at least one set either before or after phish on sunday! the details haven\'t all been ironed out yet but i\'ll try to remember to post more info here as the plans become more concrete.
but let me know if any of you will be in hampton that weekend because it would be great to catch up! and fyi, if you send private messages then it notifies my email that you are trying to reach me so that\'s the best way to find me since i don\'t come on these boards as often these days.
