Actually, the final was instead moved up to tonight and ended in an 11-11 tie. Consequently, your vote will determine the champion. Please go to Dave\'s house on July 25 with a large mooz of each and crown the victor. We\'re counting on you Wolf!

I would love to, but I can\'t afford the $40 large mooz with the Sally\'s Jew Tax.

chris, is that typical sarcasm, or is there still going to be one more showdown on the 25th?

No Paul, it\'s not my typical sarcasm. We did have the final last night, it ended in a deadlock, and it\'s on Seth, one of the tournament\'s most steadfast supporters, to determine who has the best apizza in the SuperHaven area, and arguably the world.
And next week, we\'re starting the SuperDakota Tournament, matching the 64 elite apizza establishments of North and South Dakota against each other in a taste-bud extravaganza. There\'s this place, I think it\'s called Mama Tony\'s Italian Pizza, near Mount Rushmore that makes a ridiculous peppers and onions. So I hear.
In other words, be there the 25th!

Don\'t forget that this Sunday at approximately 7:30 PM we will have the final of the SuperHaven Apizza Tournament featuring Wooster St. heavyweights Sally\'s and Pepe\'s in a one-time taste-test cage match to see who has the best pizza in the New Haven area.
Sally\'s has earned a 9-0 win over Brazzi\'s, a 5-2 victory against Modern, and a 5-2 triumph versus Grand to reach the championship.
Pepe\'s knocked off Tony and Lucielle\'s 8-1, then downed Staven Apizza Champion Giuseppe\'s 4-3, followed by a 6-2 trouncing of Olde World to make it here.
Should be classic. If you\'ve particpated in any of these rounds, going back to when we had 16 places in contention last year, you are required to attend. If you\'re a tournament rookie and want to participate, please verify such with Dave and then go. Cigarette smokers are inelgible.
See yous there

I\'m taking a train 100 miles for this! May the best pie win! Much as I love walking out of Sally\'s loaded with pies and making all the customers drool, I think it is best if I do not pick up the pies, unless everyone wants to pay double. You know, now that I think about it, I was the one who picked up the $19 large mooz from Tony and Lucille\'s in the first round. Perhaps they were on to me as well?

A great time, but a big letdown from the supposed heavyweights. Definitely the worst pie I have ever had from both Sally\'s AND Pepe\'s, I\'m sure most would agree. Who would\'ve guessed that? The Sally\'s tasted like cardboard box to a lot of people and seemed thicker and gummier than usual. The 3 Sally\'s pies were very inconsistent. The Pepe\'s was cold and the cheese was crispy. That is just wrong. The last Pepe\'s was dry as a desert, with no sauce and charred cheese. It was actually bad. People wouldn\'t even eat it. Sally\'s and Pepe\'s on an off night is still better than most other apizza though. (Although that last Pepe\'s was actually bad.) I voted Sally\'s on all categories but didn\'t mind seeing them lose. I thought it was funny how everyone was saying "Well, if we went to the places we would get perfect pies and there would be no problems..." I\'ve been saying to do the contests on-premise since the beginning! Poker and hi-def Sox-Yankees was great too. Thanks everyone!

There needs to be another apizza contest, we cannot just stop here forever. I have 2 ideas:
1. Do the entire Superhaven contest again, with new seeds, and this time do it on-premise. Rank dough, cheese, sauce, service, and overall 1-10 since you don\'t have both pies at the same time. You\'ll still know which was better even if you eat the pies an hour apart.
2. The AAA tourney: Little Italy (Deli), Dominos, Pizza Hut, Papa John\'s, DePalma\'s and any other apizza places that weren\'t in the first tournament. If there aren\'t 16 spots filled, throw in store pizza like DiGiorno\'s and Uno\'s.

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana did in fact beat Sally\'s Pizza 6-5 Sunday night to win the 2003-04 SuperHaven Apizza Tournament. That means over a four-match span Pepe\'s earned the majority of votes against its opponents, one of which is the best pizza places in Staven, and another that is considered by many to be the best in the world. Not an easy feat. So congratulations to Pepe\'s!
Those who voted for Pepe\'s: Tim, Lisa, Justin, Jay, Mike, Adrian D
Those who voted for Sally\'s: Me, Ron, Seth, Adrian T, Dave
The sauce: Sally\'s 8-3
The cheese: Pepe\'s 6-5
The dough: Pepe\'s 6-5
For the record, there were no remaining slices of the six bad pizzas. However, they weren\'t perfect and there were some problems. At the places, there\'s perfection and no problems. Like waiting in line at both Sally\'s and Pepe\'s on a Sunday, huh, Wonder Bread Wolf?
The Tournament could always be elaborated. Of course, there\'s always toppings to consider. Then again, I\'m all for never doing another Tournament. Instead, we could eat pizza and use words to convey our thoughts.

Ah of course, the topping tournament. Good idea. The on-premise tourney would not have to involve eating at both places in one night. The 1-10 scoring allows you to record scores over time.
