Today I discovered, quite by accident, that "Legend of a Mind" by the Moody Blues (one of my favorites) has not been covered by The Breakfast in over a year.  So I dove into the setlist archive in search of some covers which were once Breakfast staples.  Which one would you bring back?

My pick is "The End".  It\'s a great high energy jam/show ender, like "Son of Simpleton" or "Funky Bill\'s".

Of course, if any of these are intentionally shelved (and not just forgotten), I definitely don\'t want to see the band play them half-heartedly just to appease us slobs.
Go see your Breakfast, there are starving Leiths in California

I voted for Herbie Hancock even though I don\'t remember what their version sounds like.  Legend of a Mind is a good cover.  Do they still play Magic Fingers?

By thy way,

does anyone have any Herbie Hancock cds from his funky years like Headhunters and Thrust?  I need to find someone so I can trade for them.

What happened to Eat that Phone Book Coda?  It wasn\'t a particular favorite, just a weird cover that Paul Ryan and I were recollecting yesterday.

I believe Eat that .... has not been played by PB as the song they were playing was a different song by Gong. I believe it was determined to be Ooby Scooby Doomsday . I think.

Beg to differ leith, me old buddy, but on at least one occasion you think wrong. I have pb doing Eat That Phone Book Coda at the Middle East Downstairs 2001-08-14 - just had a listen to check.  If they did indeed do Ooby Scooby Doomsday, can you let me know when?

Well a few months back it was a subject of discussion about if Eat That...was actually being played as someone noticed PB was playing Ooby Scooby.. and not Eat That...but Eat That... was being listed in setlists. Now having never heard the song they were playing it is hard for me to definetively(sp?) tell which song is actually being played. The story I was told was that Tim read the wrong name off the album and so they thought they were playing Eat That...   Musicians:rolleyes:  So I am sure you KNOW Gong a bit better than most on this board so if you actually have heard Eat That... I am sure it is. As far as the last Eat That..../ Ooby Scooby May 20th, 2004 ? Lizard Lounge; New York, NY
I: Inner Glimpse, No Regret, No Glove No Love, Dig, Doughboy, Vera Street, Beef Barley*,
The Chase, Ooby-Scooby Doomsday or The D-Day DJ?s Got the D.D.T. Blues**

* Pop Goes the Weasel tease
** Correct title for ?Eat That Phone Book Coda? by the band Gong

leith, as for me being a "bit" of a gong fan, yes, it\'s true. :) Loved everything Daevid has done, from early Soft Machine through Gong, solo stuff with Here & Now, more Gong, University of Errors and now the new Gong.

Would love to hear then doing Ooby Scooby (though I\'m sure they could do a great Pothead Pixies, hint, hint, Tim).

Unfortunately the show you mention is not up on the archive. If anyone else knows of other sightings which are available, will give them a listen.
