seen moe. there 3 or 4 times now.  i dig the place.  i\'m not a major mule phan, but warren is a beast on guitar.  i\'ve seen some solid shows from them, and some i wasn\'t too into.

yeah, as of late mule\'s become more jammy than it originally was. but before woody\'s passing, they were easily one of my all time favorite bands. easily. some of the \'98 shows i saw are still at the top of the list, to me. and, actually, the warren and matt acoustic show just after woody\'s passing is literally one of the top four musical experiences i\'ve ever had. big cypress, the first full band Leftover Salmon show after mark died, and then, depending on the day, the john butler trio show from starr hill or this warren and matt show, also from starr hill. but i digress....

anyway, if y\'all haven\'t heard their late night set from bonnaroo this year, GET IT!!! sit ins from michael franti, bob weir, lewis black, john paul jones, hot tuna and luther dickenson. GREAT set!!

I used to love Mule!! Then after Woody\'s passing they went off of my radar. Only saw them a couple times and it just didn\'t cut it for me. I\'m going to have to check out that Boneroo set.

Bonnaroo set is fantastic - but on bt.etree make sure you get the nak version - way better than the other one, and that was good too.

I have my ticket to see them next month in London. Will let you know how my first live mule experience goes.

Well, as promised, here\'s my take on the mule live.

Really enjoyed the show - two 70 min sets, though I missed the first 15 mins due to parking problems. The real star of the show for me was Matt Abts, who is one hell of a drummer - hits those skins like, well, a mule, and his drum solo was probably the best I have ever witnessed. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he needed to replace his snare after it.

The only downside for me is that while he is an excellent guitarist and vocalist, Warren Haynes has all the charisma of a concrete post, even when giving it some welly during a solo. Don\'t get me wrong, I would willingly drive the three plus hours each way to see them again, but given they were playing a small venue with a capacity of <800, Warren could have made more of an effort to connect with the audience.

matt abts is literally the only drummer i\'ll sit through a drum solo for. i have a good story about insulting him before realizing who he was, but i\'m too many craft beers into the evening to bother typing it out. maybe later. suffice it to say i\'ve since apologized, but at the time it was truly embarassing! but honestly, its not my fault his new hair cut was extremely iggy circa the stooges....

oh, and sorry adrian. your drum solos are really good, too.

i honestly believe that in combo with woody\'s death, playing with plq really \'jammied\' up his playing. he used to be much more straight forward rocking (even with abb) than he\'s become since going uber-psychedelic with plq. don\'t get me wrong, i loved that incarnations, but still, mule has gone from face crushing rock to noodly jamband.

but the bonnaroo set is still badass! there\'s even a 5.1 matrix out there..d
