I would say \'No\' on number retirement.

There are many cases of tragic events in sports ending careers. A number being retired is a rare event and highlights an extraordinary career and player.Part or which  is longevity in the game.

All though my heart goes out to this person for being injured getting hurt does not = outstanding career, just unlucky

Bo Jackson
Jeff Beukeboom

just a few off the top of my head

Yeah, I see your point. It was just a thought.

But in that case, why hasn\'t Wade Boggs had HIS number retired? I am pretty sure he meets Boston\'s requirements...

I was simply offering an opinion. Wade Boggs :) It would be a cold day in hell

Lots of players meet the requirements. It is the extra icing for the guys that are legends on their teams.. think about how long the Red Sox have been around and the small number of retired numbers (relatively speaking).

I think Boggs\' chance of getting his number retired by the sox rode off on the back of a horse after a world series win as a Yankee

Meh... Not that big at all.

The place just always has a sign out on the road that says "Giant Book Sale."

When I interviewed I asked where all of the giant books were and the woman didn\'t find that amusing at all. Then I asked if there was a section of books all about giants, and she seemed quite irritated. I still got the job, however....
