MOTHER OF ASS!!! we just pulled a deer tick off me!!!

i used to work with a nurse and we would find ticks all over us because we were working on farms and in crops.  she said that if the tick carries lyme that it has to be feeding off your blood for 16 hours before it can pass the disease on...but you said you don\'t know how long it was on your neck??

you could always just take the tick in to the doctor to be tested for precautionary reasons.  but i agree with todd on the whole antibiotics-is-a-bad-idea-if-you-don\'t-have-the-lyme thing.  if you don\'t have it and took the antibiotics, the next time (god...or whoever...forbid) that you actually do get the disease the antibiotics will not be as effective because your body is becoming immune to the medicine.

good luck mr. peck.  i hope everything turns out ok...although i\'m sure it will.  :)

Yeah, forgot to mention this as well. This is why it\'s a good thing to "fine tooth comb" your body after going back inside. I\'ve also found that ticks, unless they\'re in deep, hate Neutrogena shampoo.

with regards to the rogaine-

I knew a kid who actually grew hair back, then lost it again once he built tolerance. It works, but all you\'re doing is buying time.
Also it only works for the back crown of your head balding.  For the "two scoops" receding hairline (see coyote, wild) it does nothing.
Keep those clippers oiled ;)

Oh yeah, and good luck with this tick thing.

not even 26 yet and I\'m all but there. reasons i keep my hair a little longer, my \'bangs\' hide it well. but now that I know Dave has rogaine, I may raid his cabinets next tuesday, but please don\'t ban me from .info or any pecoraro summer bashes for doing so though.

as for the lyme, good luck with that, I think you\'ll be alright though, i\'ve been bit a shitload of times and never got it, then again I went through a 5 or so year period where i was sick at least 8 times a year for week long clips, maybe they never caught it.

I\'ve been bit many, many times by ticks. I fucking hate those guys. But I prefer to be outside and get bitten by ticks than to be a hoo haa and stay inside to avoid them.

Never ended up with Lyme disease. My horse had it once.

i\'ve never been bitten (knock on wood), but i\'ve had plenty crawling on me.

imo, in order to fully respect and enjoy nature one has to appreciate each aspect that comes with it.  This includes all the nasty, disease ridden, blood sucking critters that are found in nature....don\'t get me wrong...it\'s not like i enjoy having ticks on me, but it is kinda nifty knowing that something so small and mindless can invoke such a debilitating ailment. and each species (flora and fauna), such as ticks, have evolved over billions of years to keep the environment in check.  so maybe diseases like lyme, cancer, Lou Gehrig\'s, etc. have developed over time to keep us in check...know what i mean?
