So currently I teach music to kids, but I am puting my two weeks in mid april, I am also an audio engineer for Shaped Music, http://www.shapedmusic.com, A house engineer for Hodi\'s  Halfnote http://www.hodishalfnote.com, and I am playing gigs with Orooni, 3 Peas and The Foot Clan. http://www.oroonilive.com   http://www.3peasfunk.com  http://www.myspace.com/footclanband   so my day job is almost done and breakfast management will be full time days, sound gigs are at night and on weekends, Im all in!  If anyone is goin to Wakarusa I\'ll be playing with Orooni and the 3 Peas. Unfortunately none of my playing gigs are too serious, but thats ok im still playing, and totally excited to be working for my boys back in Staven, ever since I saw them  in the Lot of the Meadows in Hartford End of June 2000, I\'ve been hooked, and have thought they could be the biggest thing in the world, and now I\'m gonna work on making it happen

Crescendo only books shows and it has been the best booking in a long time.

i know they\'ve had a few tours from 05-06, but it just seems as of late that they play one northeast venue, and that night announce plans to play that venue again in a couple months, go to the next venue, repeat process.  i\'m failing to see what crescendo has been doing lately?  setting up a tour?  getting them on festival lineups?  haven\'t seen anything resembling either of those.

Perhaps the band isn\'t looking to tour right now. What the band needs to do is build a solid following in their home state and region before going out on tour and earn money. The last few tours they have lost money and right now it doesn\'t seem feasible to go out on tour to do just that.

Lets all be honest, this band is a shadow of its former self. Like it or not, they really have to build up a fanbase again.

shadow of its former self?  you make it sound like the Breakfast were living large 3 years ago or some shit.

call me crazy, i just don\'t see how playing Bill\'s Bar, the Stone Church, the Ironhorse, Daniel St., the Mezzanote and the Electric Company over and over again is gonna build some miraculous fanbase.  I always thought exposure helped to build a fanbase, not playing the same 6 venues over and over again.

They had the ability a few years ago to tour and have it work out, they have been playing places where they just don\'t draw. What they are trying to do, is work the stronger smaller markets out where they can continue to grow with what they have.

I agree with you Igzy but right now, the truth is they have to be able to pull people to be booked at some of these venues.

The management will deal with this. We will sit right here and discuss it because it is the truth.

perhaps they should try to do something different than all the other bands.

For example.

Theme nights / runs in the spirit of Fongoulish or diesel experiments.

Is it cheesy maybe but it is also something different. Something special to promote with. Not just hey Bfast is in town come out and see the band.

1 of the things that has been lacking and I am just as much to blame as anyone else I guess but their is no "scene" surrounding the bfast anymore.

If we as fans wanted to help. that would be the biggest thing IMHO. Not flyers or other stuff but a scene. Stage props, crazy artwork, poetry during set break, girl on girl jello wrestling anything to create a different feel or vibe. painters, spoken word, communists, whatever. Drink specials, safe rides to the show (yes i know many of you do this)

A community so to speak. We all tend to be fairly thick skinned sarcastic North Easterners, I am not telling everyone to be hippies or anything but we could all be much more welcoming of new faces and try to help the band like that. That means more than a flyer or handout. It makes your experience more personal. That is what made the difference to me. A simple hey thanks for coming out My name is Dave Peck this is Josh Kroop etc etc

My biggest hurdle is getting out to shows. I plan on working on that very soon but the other stuff is true.

A spectacle so to speak.

exactly...tell me again why the breakfast doesn\'t play two shows/week in CT...there are a ton of people in this region who love this type of music...it should be impossible for somebody from CT to not like the breakfast

Or they could just play the headiest fuckin music of all time.

Like we all know they have the *capability* to do, and have, at times, done so.

kinda isn\'t a theme, but i always thought it\'d be cool to have Breakfast shows as a rotating lineup type thing.

for example:

Set 1: (the Breakfast)Mayfly Dissaray, jam> What the Funk, (Tim solo acoustic)Sunshine Superman> Good Things, (the Breakfast)Rufus, (Drums n Guitar)some Mahavishnu Orchestra shit or whatever it is they play>(Good Time Boys) Around the World> (the Breakfast) Spunk> Honey Butter

or something of that ilk.  just a different way to set them apart from most touring jambands.
