nice win for the mets last night. they could\'ve used a couple more of those against the cards glavine looked sharp but definintely don\'t think he can keep that up all year.  braves start the season off on the road against the Philles.  Smoltz should be able to get the win over an in my opinion, a much over-rated Phillies team, but that is besides the point.  We will see how good the Mets are on friday when they face the Braves at Turner Field for the home opener.

yeah i am kind of fucked on the direct tv/mlb deal.  Some of the braves games will be on tbs, but not as many as last year. hopefully sirius has the baseball games in a few weeks, if not i would like mlb.tv login.

Another great opening day at the Stadium.

Pavano wasn\'t great, but really didn\'t suck either.  He was the victim of 2 errors in the first 2 innings, (both plays, properly made would have ended the inning) and didn\'t get rattled.  I was really afraid he would come undone after the second, but he kept his head.  
The bullpen pitched great.  Bruney, Henn and Vicaino did the job. Farnsworth was hitting 99mph, and Mo was his same old self.
The bats worked Kazmir to 101 pitches by the 6th, and he left the inning w/o recording and out.  Giambi and Jorge were clutch, and A-Rod came around with a coffin nail blast into the Yankee bullpen.  Can\'t wait until Sunday.

What an awful opener for Boston and Shilling.  But somewhat in relation to Antbach\'s post, not much this early really matters anyway.   but :doh: none the less.

big start to the season for the braves. braves have a long april this year with like 23 of first 28 games against NL East competition, which will show mlb fans what the braves are made on.  they swept the philles and have their home opener tonight against the mets, who are also 3-0.  should be a good game tonight. go braves

Is it me or does Tampa\'s Elijah Dukes just not give a fuck in the outfield?  
Watching the game last night he botched a deep shot by A-Rod that, though difficult, he probably should have caught.  Rays pitcher Jee Soo sort of shows him up after with a mini tantrum on the mound, and later in the dugout.  Next 2 pitches hit to Dukes he pulls up sort and lets them drop in front of him for bloop hits.  Again, both these would have been tough plays, but he didn\'t appear to try.
Dukes is considered a top caliber talent, but fell to the D-Rays in the 3rd round of the draft due to a reputation of attitude problems, and numerous (7 I think) arrests.

who cares they won and more importantly the yankess lost.  a-rod stiffens up again in a clutch at-bat with the bases loaded, two outs and the yankees down by a run. damn. gotta love baseball season.
