The Devil Rays have basically always had the Yankees number. Does anyone know what the season series record is between the two teams?

really?

surprising, since I usually see the Devil Rays with a win. Wonder what the overall series is since they started playing.

It feels like the Yankees always loss to the Devil Rays when needed but I might be mistaken.

I know that this is an old standbye, but they suck so much that they have more championships than any other team in all sports history?  And I don\'t want to hear the old sox battle cry that the Yankees buy every player cause who\'s right behind the Yankees in payroll?

Yankees - $189,639,045
Red Sox - $143,026,214

The Red Sox have had the second highest payroll for the past four years

You\'re right, the Yankees have no chance to keep their wild card lead and no chance to take the division.  Both teams have 24 games left and with 3 more game against the sox, there\'s no chance of coming back?  Are you kidding me!  If history shows us anything, boston always has a meltdown at the end of the season and the Yankees take advantage of it - why do you think we\'ve won the division 5 out of the last 6 seasons?  And even if we don\'t take the division, as long as we get the wildcard, we\'ll get the chance take you guys on in the playoffs.  With our line-up, it doesn\'t take a genius to realize that it\'s only a matter of time before the Yankees start making a run for the division.

I never said they didn\'t have a chance. You are obviously worried because the wild card is hardly a lock where as the Bosox are pretty much a shoe-in for the division. The Bosox have been in 1st place ALL season. You are the one who brought up spending & past championships because the present and near future is looking bleak.
Edit: You are right the the stankees do not suck, they do have a great line up, and they have improved their pitching (Joba). Only time will tell. GO RED SOX!

Actually - I brought it up because when discussing Yankees with a sox fan, that\'s usually where the conversation ends up.

Do I think the sox have a better chance at the division than the Yankees, sure, but I wouldn\'t bet my life on it.  Do I think the Yankees can take the WC if they don\'t take the division, definitely.

I\'m not worried because I\'m not one of those Yankees fans that gets pissed off if we don\'t win the series every year.  I\'ve been a fan through the shitty 80\'s and early 90\'s, so I don\'t always expect to win.  I just like watching them play and like to see them cultivate young prospects as they are doing with their pitchers this year.

On a side note, I think that the new stadium is a horrible idea.

I am neither a yankees or red sox fan, but I remeber in 2004 the Yankees were up  3-0 and lost the series 4-3. It was the greatest comeback in sports history so anything can happen. but the yankees will not win the division this year, but they may win the wild card. in the meantime red sox fans would love to have the yankees 26 world series championships but they really dont give two shits about that argument simply b/c of what happen in 2004. And who could blame them.

easily especially since 3 games are against the Sox, just need to keep in position to do so and winning this series against the Mariners is a good way to start.
