Ferries run from New London, CT and RI (right next door to Captain Nick\'s). We\'re taking the one from RI.

I\'d be likely to join you on the Captain Nick Ferry.  Is that Narragansett?  I\'m contemplating renting (or borrowing) a bike and riding down from Mass to the ferry.  I better book the flight before I do any more talking.

Also, what time do you expect to catch the ferry?

We\'re leaving from Naragansett, but we need to make a reservation for the truck first.  We\'re hoping to leave mid-morning/early-afternoon - probably around 11-1pm.

Woohoo! This run is gonna be **incredible**
(especially now, with the AL.Z presence!!!) ;)

Rhode Islanders:

Do you know if biking is allowed over the bridges connecting Newport-Jamestown and Jamestown-mainland R.I.?

sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but is this reservation you are speaking of for using the ferry, as in you reserve a time slot to ride it over, or is it for for renting a truck?

im getting to block island tuesday evening if anyone else plans on going up early.

just got word my ultimate frisbee tournament is the weekend prior to this one so im also on for the friday night show in RI.

The reservation is for bringing the 4-runner on the ferry. Can\'t wait to go off-roading on the island!!!

I\'ve always gone over (without a vehicle) without a reservation.

Well if I bring the dogger etc I may have enough stuff that I might want to bring my car?

I will especially want the car if I don\'t end up with a hotel reservation ahead of time... Which from the looks of the stuff I\'m finding on the internet, I probably won\'t.

if your going to bring a car make your reservation asap, remember this is the weekend before the 4th of July so the island should be packed. i don\'t know if the band has reserved a spot yet because they will definitely be restricted because of size. i think they only allow 2 BIG trucks on per ride.

Al i\'m pretty sure you would be dead if you tried to ride a bike over either the Newport or Jamestown bridges.

for anyone who hasn\'t been on the island before and is thinking about going...
unless you have your heart set on off-roading or something, you really don\'t need a car there. if you have a bike, bring it. i think it costs a lot of money to bring a car and the island is so small it\'s really not worth it.
