we should see how many threads on .info we could turn into political talk.
Well this did result from speculation that the
music might be political. :duck:
If you\'re a liberal, the hip thing to do is rip on Christians. Seriously. Examples abound in: Hollywood, main stream media, colleges and universities across the country, etc.
Jocelyn- I think you missed my point. I was
not saying I\'d rather deal with the Muslims over Christians.
I\'ve traveled once to Bahrain and once to Istanbul. I was extremely nervous before both trips, Bahrain especially, mainly in apprehenison of cultural differences. I was relieved to find these highly developed, urbanized, liberal parts of the Muslim world were not as different as I had feared.
Just recently I went to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I didn\'t give culture clash a single thought before hand, after all I\'m staying in the good ol\' US of A. However one individual asked me about my ethnic background (I have an Irish name, he asked if I am Catholic) and began to force the topic of religion into conversation. I believe I offended him when I appruptly stated it was not a topic I wished to persue.
Here\'s my point (to anyone still reading): Major cities of the world that participate heavily in international commerce are developing a "world culture". It has it\'s pro and cons, (ie very tolerant, yet everything revolves around $). More isolated areas of our country and others are rebeling against this with nationalism and religious fanaticism. I\'ve started to feel the result that an urban American may feel more comfortable abroad in a major city, than in his/her home country in a rural area. I was really shocked by this, and I\'m not yet sure how I feel about it.
On an unrelated topic, I hear Rush has a new album coming out...
