Not sure if this has been posted, but I just got it in my email.  Looks like a good hole for the breakfast to fill.





Dear Fans,
As you know, our lead singer, guitarist, and trumpet player, Brendan
McGinn, entered medical school in the fall of 2005. We continued to play
AGP shows when it was possible for him to do so. Unfortunately, Brendan
will be unable to play any more shows after this spring and we have decided
it is appropriate to call these upcoming dates our "Farewell Shows." While
it may be possible that we will play again someday, we don\'t believe this
will happen in the foreseeable future.

We will be celebrating the release of a brand new album, Waiting Room, that
was recorded over the last few years. We think it is our best studio album
yet. Click here for more details and to order the album (which will also be
available for sale at the shows). The upcoming shows also mark our 10 year
anniversary of being a band!

As for the rest of us, we have been recording new music for Skinjer which
features Ben, Rob, Dave, and Andrew of AGP and have been working on other
solo projects. We will make announcements on addisongroove.com and to the
AGP mailing list to let you know of any shows that we will be doing with
other bands.

We can\'t thank all of you enough for making our childhood dreams come true.
We have hundreds of amazing memories from AGP that we will cherish forever.

Thurs, 3/1 - Mercury Lounge - NYC
Fri, 3/2 - Revolution Hall - Troy, NY
Sat, 3/3 - Paradise Rock Club - Boston
And here is more info about the new album::
"Waiting Room," the third studio album from Addison Groove Project released
in February of 2007, was several years in the making. All of the
instruments were recorded seperately via overdubbing making this the
\'anti-live\' album. The song selection features mostly vocal songs that were
written between 2002 and 2004.

Work on the album began in New York City in 2004 while AGP was touring
heavily. It was picked up by Pete Carini in the spring of 2005 and
recording was finished at the Barn in Essex, VT over the following 6
months. Mixing was done over the course of the following year with the
album finally being mastered in NYC in the fall of 2006. Special guest Dave
Grippo adds baritone sax on a few tracks.

i don\'t know if any tryouts were actually conducted, but Rob Marscher is a decent keys player.

Perhaps key players from all the now defunct jambands could create a super group.

along the lines of ABB etc

2 drummers, a few guitars, some horns, keys, bass percussion

I would go to the show!

Glad I got to see/video tape them a few times. Sadly I had a really good recording of them from toads place, I edited just enough to make the 30 minute tv show, and then went back to finish editing the whole concert when the drive crashed and I had already reused some of the tapes. Rest of the show will never see the light of day. Too bad. They were a good band.

That being said, I expected this ever since he entered medical school.

Went to high school with Marscher.  He\'s a prodigy.  One of the craziest things I\'ve ever seen in my life to this day: We\'re sitting there before jazz band practice, and the teacher hands Rob a 6-page excerpt from a Rachmananov piano concerto to check out.  Rob has never seen this piece of music before.  He studies it for about 5 minutes, tosses it to the side, and plays the whole thing without looking at it.  That\'s some serious prodigal Bobby Fischer shit.  Most 18 year old piano whizzes would have to practice that piece hard to be able to play it while looking.  

I\'ll definitely miss AGP, they\'re second on my most-seen list behind Breakfast and a few shows ahead of Phish.  Can\'t believe how far they took it since the days at Wellesley High Auditorium and Dennison Hall in Framingham.  Very similar to The Breakfast; high school band coming from the burbs, scoring a keyboard player along the way from another band and running around the country playing.  Thanks guys!

Hehehehe...I\'m gonna think about this for hours.  Definitely worthy of its own thread.  You can\'t just create a superstar "fantasy band" a la fantasy football...you have to think about who would actually play well together.  Off the top of my head, a serious acid jazz/funk outfit could be created of Fuzz (Deep Banana Blackout) on guitar, Marscher on keys, Garret Sayers (Miracle Orchestra) on bass and Aaron Katz (Percy Hill) on drums.  Come to think of it, all 4 sing too!
