So is anybody around here into Geocaching (or know what it is)?  I just started

I\'m not sure if you can call this a sport, but I put it in the sports forum.

I;ve heard of it before, but not having a geo-thingie I\'ve never done it. Sounds like fun though.

Quote
Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "treasure", usually toys or trinkets of little monetary value.

you can do the "letterboxing" one\'s without GPS.  they give you directions to follow instead of coordinates

my dad is really big into this. he drags my mom and nephew around and they seem to enjoy it. They are up to 60+ caches found. My wife and I helped out on a couple when we visited for Thanksgiving. They live in Arizona so they have a lot of variety in where caches and how/where they are hidden.

I looked up some in my neighborhood in NY. They are all micro-caches for the most part and very prone to being "muggled".

I just went looking for my first the other day and couldn\'t find it, I\'m gonna go back this weekend when it\'s lighter out and try again.
