I hear you Leith.......I know we aren\'t out there to be nice and ass kissy to everyone we meet, but I really do try to be amicable to everyone that works in the venues as well as in the opening bands.....But the longer I am on the road the more I am realizing what it takes to be successful at it......I really wish I could remember the name of the opening band at the NorthStar though.....Because a post like that doesnt help them if we are ever on a bill with them again....

Yeah it\'s weird how an opening band\'s time can get cut because of some "problems"  that arise during the headliner\'s set-up/soundcheck. Problems that no matter what the crew does just can not get fixed in time for the opener to start on time.
It\'s also weird how those same problems can miraculously disappear under the right circumstances ;)

I don\'t like reading stuff like this, but I will say that this is not the first time I have heard such comments. I have heard them directly out of musicians\' mouths before, and nice guys too with no agenda whatsoever.

I don\'t expect anyone in the band (or working for the band) to be mushy gushy all of the time or anything... but to compare their being rude/standoffish/whatever to the Dead\'s crew is silly. That\'s ok when you are the GD. When you are a band still struggling to make it, you really need to try not to piss anyone off. IMHO, of course... :duck:

It also should be mentioned (as this just came to my mind) that we were forced to hold up on setting up due to the fact that the opening band was extremely late and the loadin door at the northstar was behind the stage (to open the door you actually have to lift up part of the stage floor).  Though we got all our gear onto the stage, we couldnt set up until the opener got there......So basically they may have caught some attitude because we had to rush our set up after they came rolling in much later than they were supposed to......a rushed setup will definitely piss off the band and sound and light guy because they didnt get to do all the soundchecking they needed to do......so now in retrospect, that guy who posted that is a real prickwad......

so true. they need as many allies as possible within the music industry. i really don\'t see the need for copping an attitude. other bands are in the same boat, working hard, being on the road, etc. there is no excuse for anyone to be rude.

Well the first opener were all a bunch of 17 year olds who were almost not allowed to play...I am thinking it wasnt those kids.....Plus they were more on time than the second opener.....were very very late......

Thing is a road crew is a road crew no matter who they work for. The GD crew just got lucky the band they worked for was who they were.

As far as not pissing people off, other than the venue no one else really needs to be coddled(sp?).
