Much talk on this forum about when is Breakfast gonna blow up and pack big concert halls??? But after a show like this at Sullys I have to wonder... is this what anyone really wants...

thats what i want. this band deserves some recognition. i want them to get bigger, not stay the same size and fade out, without ever really getting the spotlight that they deserve. they have paid their dues playing small bars. hopefully they will continue growing. i think they definately are getting bigger, it just takes time.

I dunno, is playing to a packed house @ Sully\'s really "paying their dues" ??

I mean, they get paid right? They seem to be having a great time on stage and the crowd is sure diggin\' it. And playing regularly at Iron Horse, Stone Church, and some of these other venues they frequent isn\'t exactly a sign of being unsuccessful.

I guess as an aspiring musician myself, I\'d hope to never consider playing for 75 or 100 or 200 raging dedicated fans part of paying the dues. That\'s something to live for!

I just hope the band feels the same way and they will be able to make peace with whatever level of "success" they are destined for.

and what\'s with the avid "pointers" who look around to see if people see them pointing to just about every note, and then when they see another "pointer" pointing at the same time, oh forget it muthafuckas!!, they look at eachother in what I can only construe as some type of weird amazement and then they nod like, hell yeah bro, I know this song too, man.

After seeing Gov\'t Mule last night at the oakdale, all Robyn and I could keep thinking was how cool it would be to be able to see PB up on that stage!!! The combination of the superior sound, lights, equipment, crowd, etc. is something that this band deserves. And the paycheck that comes with it would, I\'m sure, make the guys very happy. The  band would love  to be able to tour without having to have second jobs to support themselves!!! This will not happen having to keep playing to 200 people.

The Breakfast is destined to play the same small venues it has for the past 8 years unless they get themselves some fucking management.

Not the owner of a small studio somewhere in CT.
Vic does what he can from what is posted on this site but let\'s be real this band needs a fulltime manager that can help and coordinate with the booking agency and the grassroots team.

They consistently play to less than packed houses in their own stomping grounds.
If The Breakfast is not selling out at least every other show in NE by now it is not going to happen in the near future.

Luckily for us the band seems to be content playing these small "intimate" venues and making jaunts across the country once in awhile.

Could be worse, they could have packed it in by now. They are determined to keep playing no matter what it seems so get it while ya can and stop bitchin\' about venue size. Any venue they are playing right now is the right size as long as you can get in.

Are You Ser? Why do you think they are weekend warriors when it comes to playing shows? Tim is the only one that plays music exclusively to make his living. Thus so many Timmy solo shows.

Ya I was ser I don\'t really know these dudes that well aside from random greetings and brief chill sesh.. employment isn\'t really a topic that has come up ... I did assume that they were probably raking in a few hondos a piece per show though, which really doesn\'t seem too bad to me if they rock 2-3 shows a week.

Does anyone know what portion of the door actually goes to the band?

Does it vary from venue to venue, or is there a general percentage that goes to the band after the club & the production team get their cut?

If those boys are only making 20s after the shows they\'re putting out, we def need to get more (paying) people in!

Especially when there\'s 200 people at a show but 80 on a guest list...*runs away*:out:

playing to a packed house at Sully\'s maybe isn\'t paying their dues  but when they are playing doozies at small bars in the north east (Rochester & Utica recently) that is paying their dues. this band has been around for 8+ years and i just think it would be frustrating to have grown so much musically and so little in following.

thats what i\'m saying. they fucking deserve it!
I still have the faith in broseph that they will get big. it will just take some more time.
and as leith mentioned, some management might be key.
