Notes: Opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The intro and the some of RFT are missing, as I did not know TMV was taking the stage at 7:30 (ticket time said 8:00). The recording actually starts in the men\'s room (had to make the music as complete as possible), and I\'m finally settled into my seat around 1:30 into track 1. Also, at the very end of track 2, the guy behind me needed to know how long they\'d been playing for. Apparently I was the go-to guy for this. ***** DO NOT ENCODE TO AND TRADE AS MP3!! ******* DO NOT SELL OR PURCHASE THIS RECORDING!!! **--------------------------------TOTAL: [51:02]--------------------------------01. 35 min jam? i\'d like to hear that one
Interesting. The TMV replaced their long-time drummer Jon Theodore in July with Blake Fleming and apparently he has already jumped ship or was kicked. So this recording has a temporary replacement, hence why there is a long jam section instead of the typical song choices from the tour. Thanks for this. I wonder if, in 30 years, this will be a rare concert tape because of the "historical" value.
the mars volta were insulting last night. first, a song that i\'d never heard before. didn\'t have much substance to it. i\'d say an A section and a B section repeated over and over. then a half hour long jam in which they played one riff ad nauseum with cedric wailing inaudible words that he probably made up anyway with lots of silly panning/delay effects on his voice. at a certain point i felt like they were intentionally fucking with me, as when it seemed like they were going to start to do something interesting or different or even better, PLAY AN ACTUAL SONG, they\'d bust back into that one riff. i felt almost as if i was being mocked by the band. once that finally ceased, a less than stellar performance of a tune off their most recent record. end of set.
the toilet flush at the beginning was one of the more redeeming sounds on the TMV recording..
