Pffft.  Yeah right! What? You haven\'t put enough bugs and cameras in my house already?! You have to try to trick me to move into your little mountain trap just to find out how much I kow? Does this place come with a free brainwashing?!

You\'ll never get me as long as I keep moving!

experienced the loss and pain I have experienced,

I think it would be a pretty awesome place if it weren\'t for the fact that there is hardly any natural sunlight. Other than that I love it. But I could not do the hardly-any-windows thing.

^ditto.

pretty inexpensive too.  although i\'m used to living in a place where that same kind of house above ground would cost probably 1-1.5 million.

I didn\'t read, but it looks like a retrofitted nike base from the cold war. Ahhhh, nuclear missle silos, is there anything they can\'t do?

There are plenty of silos still available, especially around strategic areas like major cities or major equipment production areas (i.e. CT-NYC-Northern New Jersey). I\'m pretty sure there is one in east haven.

Since they have all been decommissioned since the mid 1970s, you could probably go to town hall, find the owner, buy it, commission the town to change the property jurisdiction from decommissioned military property to residential, and make yourself a cozy little 9 story house with no windows.

If you like weird cold war artifacts like that, check out The Svalbard Islands permafrost section of the Nordic Gene Bank. It\'s pretty crazy the amount of doomsday protection material that is all around us, rusting away.

Yeah, it is not a silo.

So what does the future hold for us with the possibility of future plagues, nuclear terrorism, and even nuclear war? The owner definitely doesn\'t know the answer to this question. He does know, however, that his house would be a very safe place for self-quarantine during such an outbreak or event.

But the big thing is that after an inevitable domestic weapons of mass destruction terrorist event in this country, the demand for such an extraordinarily unique piece of real estate will literally skyrocket overnight. It would probably be easy to sell it for well over a million after such a devastating event. That is, if there is any resemblance of an economy left.
I get the feeling this would not encourage the bank to help you with a mortgage.
