To the friends and family of Yasgur Road:
Max Yasgur’s home cannot be open to you this year.
Try as we might to comply with the Town of Bethel’s codes, including the ridiculous enforcement of the “no sleeping outside” law, the town is unwilling to grant us a permit. By issuing an injunction instead, the town is denying us the respect and cooperation that they willingly offer to others.
Therefore, with broken hearts but strong spirits, we cannot welcome you home as we would like.
The spirit of Woodstock remains in all our hearts whether we are welcome to celebrate in Bethel this year or not. We are family.
With love, a hope for peace worldwide, for our freedom of speech, association and assembly as granted to us by the United States Constitution, we can only hope to one day be able to express ourselves though music, art and positive, enlightened discourse in the Town of Bethel.
