Should each song have its own thread?
« on: August 04, 2006, 02:38:33 pm »
paul\'s DMB thread gave me an idea..

instead of having the lyrics section as it is now (just one thread with every song), what about a new Song Forum, with one thread for each song? the first post will have the lyrics, and each thread can have discussion about song meanings, interpretations, best versions, etc...

what\'s everyone think? vote.

I say WTF why not it might create a few quiet threads but a few that will be pretty busy too, but I see no reason as to why not......

sounds like a good idea. A Breakfast version of The Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics

Another idea might be to periodically update the first post as well. Once there is an agreeded upon theme, that could be posted up top as an official/unofficial statement on what the song is about. That way (especially for newbies) they wont have to read through the whole thread to find out what the agreed upon definition is.

hhmmph... that\'s very unethical and discriminatory for this so-called "open-minded board."  I refuse to be a part of such an evil conspiracy where there are no "maybes" ...

With the kind of foolishness that gets posted on this board (me being a contributor of said nonsense), I think its a bit of a pipe dream to think these threads will at all resemble The Annotated GD page.

But I still think its a good idea.

well thats why I suggested updating the first post, so that you can read that for the good info, or go through the whole thing if you want to.

i vote yes.  Dave, that means your original lyrics to the Chase, or excuse me, \'Count Funkula\' may eventually surface now!
