I, on the other hand, am very glad to not be getting married.

But congratulations anyway!  You are both far more adult than I.

Thanks everyone!! and a HUGE THANKS to tim, ron and adrian for helping this happen. it was great seeing and hanging out with todd, robyn and chris, glad y\'all enjoyed the inner tubes!

the set was great. the d5/psygn set up had my head spinning for a bit, some particularly potent and resonating verses in there, especially with everything else on my mind right then! and the fact that they played ldz right after had me laughing all night. that being said, i could not tell you what ldz or queeb sounded like... i was a bit distracted... i do remember hearing queeb get started, stopping my conversation/celebration for a second, turning around, whoo-hoo\'ing and then turning right back to the champagne.

there were maybe about 200-250 folks right up front, but a couple hundred more were enjoying it form their tents (where you could hear the music perfectly). as i went through camp sites and meeting folks for the rest of the weekend, everyone consistently said they\'d been blown away by the breakfast\'s set. and they should be, high energy, focused power all set long! too bad they only got an hour, indeed, cause anymore and they\'d\'ve dominated the entire weekend!

i\'m gonna let jill fill in the mushy parts, but thanks again!

edited to add~ this was taped by at least two guys i\'m good friends with (joel hudson and ben nelson). ben was running an "oade brother\'s enhanced" rig from top to bottom. it sounded great on his crappy headphones, so i\'m looking forward to it. joel was running his usual rig but said he was hearing the generators running on his tapes, so he wasn\'t sure how they\'d sound. there\'s also a video of the question mark, that will hopefully get utubed tonight or tomorrow.

Jason, how long have you been planning the engagement?

What other bands were good at the festival?

Jason.....

"Alright, let me be the first to say congratulations to then. You get one vagina for the rest of your life. Real smart. Way to work it through."

Just kidding.......Congratulations to you and Jill.....

The first annual Barefoot Festival was a heady and chill little festival.  We were treated very well by the folks running the festival as well as everyone in attendance.  The set was short but ser.  I hope this was the first of many Barefoot fests, and hopefully The Breakfast will get back there next year and get to drop 2 sets for the people.....

i\'ve been working on this for a couple months now. i\'d emailed the band and asked them to bust out this tune, specifically for me to get up and ask her during. the ring was an ordeal, though. jill had posted a pic of her ideal ring way back in march or something, and that\'s when i started looking around. my goal had been to find something even better, but that thing was a one of a kind reproduction of a custom made antique ring. eventually, i broke down and decided to just get the one she\'d shown me. a few days later, i got an email telling me that it was now back-ordered and considered a custom piece. that meant a minimum of three months until i got it. however, by this point the band had already agreed, so i had a deadline. i spent the last month and a half freaking out, visiting every jewelery store around, checking the internet everyday, pawn shops, you name it, i was looking there. eventually i found a jeweler who was really helpful. he found a ring that looked pretty damn close and ordered it so i could see it, saying that he would just sell it to someone else if it wasn\'t right. the first time i saw it, i didn\'t think it was riht. so, being down to exactly one week before the day, i had no option but to take jill bythe store "to get some more ideas". i led her to the counter and she picked out the ring immediately. then the guy started showing her other rings, but i just hurried her out. no time for second guessing! two days later i went in and gave him the diamond and told him to do his best work. i think he did!

oh, and the diamond? well, jill\'s mom and i had had a phone conversation in april, where she offered her engagement diamond to me to give to jill. i couldn\'t say no. as far as i\'m concerned, that just makes it all the more special.

as to the other bands, burnin smyrnans were real good thursday late night, the grove was unexpectedly good to open the music friday morning. they\'re young (but their lead guiatrist had a killer clean tone) i definitely filed them under \'check out in a year or two\'. cosmic charlie was pretty good, but honestly i wasn\'t paying much attention. we were back up at camp, so could hear them, but i was coming down from an endorphin and adreneline overload, sooo... moonshine still was pretty good, had some great grooves and were much better than when i last saw them in 99 or 00. still didn\'t really grab me, but pretty good. barefoot started off really hot, but eventually the energy dropped. overall, they were great background bands for having yourself a great time to. the scene was completely chill and had a very phamily feel, so you be hanging out then hear the newest band do something cool, mosey down for a few songs then head back up to camp, getting in to conversations along the way. i defintely thought the breakfast was the top band there, but i\'m biased, so....

oh, and y\'all should check out this almost nws thread of pics from friday night (post breakfast). lets just say a grand time was had by all!!! http://www.phishhook.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=5812768#5812768

wow... just got back from a crazy, heady, beautiful four-day long adventure.  I can\'t really write words to explain the insanity of the weekend camping fest.  Besides seeing fire-dancers, a singer with a space-suit and trophy crown on, and hiking through the wilderness with Mandler & TKA, I can\'t remember too much else  All in all, it was an incredible time that was filled with emotions, questions, and shenanigans... As Me! has already written, I\'ll write more when I can find my brain (although, it might still be in the woods of Gore, VA) ;)

Congrats Jason & Jill - you two are very special people and I know you will have a great & wonderful time as husband & wife :ban<3:
