so, how did the initial recording go?

We recorded because we felt like it.  Doesn\'t mean its gonna be out tomorrow, or that we will never record one of those songs again.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion about everything.  When we recorded Real Radio we tried to show the songs in a different light than what the band does live BECAUSE there are so many live recordings are around.  If all anyone ever  wants to hear is live, perhaps there IS no need to go into the studio.

And quite frankly both myself and the group will be eternally puzzled by the general reaction to the record by the public.....which was, why don\'t you just do what you do live.

Well...we had done that.  And we all wanted to do something that showed that these guys were becoming vocalist and songwriters in addition to shredders.  We did that because the bulk of the crap reviewers threw at us was "sure they can shred, but what about songs, lyrics, and vocals".

So we focused on THAT...and got more crap for THAT.

The upcoming record has some great songs.  It also marks the emergance of Tim as a vocalist.  It will be immediately obvious.  And they will jam out the songs.

We will like it.  And in the immortal words of Rick Nelson from his great song "Garden Party"  (which is coincidentally about getting shit on for playing some different sounding songs at a gig...) "You can\'t please everyone, you have to please yourself".

The rest will be clear soon.

I believe it. I like most of the new oh-six material better than I liked the new oh-five material that was getting played at the shows very frequently this time last year.

Although like I\'ve said, the albums haven\'t been a major part of my Breakfast experience yet, I really do have a good feeling about this next one. Breakfast has made it clear in the last 6-8 months that they\'re ready to kick some ass and take names. If the way they\'ve stepped it up live is reflected even a fraction in this new release it\'s gonna be a sick album.

Here\'s hoping this one gets some serious attention.

Also I do believe the key to Breakfast making it big lies in them doing whatever the f*ck they want :D

Well wanting to record an album is as good a reason as any.

I too will always be puzzled by the reaction to Real Radio. I personally think it showed their abilities to write good SONGS very well.

Considering that the jam scene\'s critics always complain so much about jambands only jamming out and the band releases an album of concisely written rock tunes, getting no love was very surprising.

As for jamming Gravity on Real Radio for me is the pinnacle of Tim channeling Jerry G.
That middle jam is as GD sounding as any band I have ever heard on record.

If they can even come close to that on the next record I will be satisfied to no end.

Believe it or not.....a huge amount of the negativity toward Real Radio cane from the name of the CD alone.  I\'ve been told that many interpreted it as the bands desire to forsake the jam scene  for commecial radio appeal.  Then they looked at the somewhat more concise songs, and used that as an excuse to bash the record.

Of course....THE BAND;s meaning was that radio should embrace more of the great music from the jam scene.....but most didn\'t get it.

I have to admit I should have seem the potential for that and interceded.....but none of us did.

Someday we will retitle it and rerelease it.  Maybe....let\'s see....

"Parapalegic Tonal Musings in Eflat".......maybe they\'ll like that.

 yeah but one can never account for the amount of stupidity album critics are capable of.

I am sure you guys covered all the bases you figured you would need to.

Just release the next album like Zep did their 4th STUDIO album, unnamed w/ a cryptic cover.

I’m glad that every decision is not necessarily based on "is this a good business decision, will we make money?" don’t get me wrong, i want this band to succeed and make money, but who the fuck knows how to predict the general public\'s reactions.
I\'m personally really excited that they are recording new stuff. i love hearing studio pb/breakfast. crystal clear sound quality+ breakfast..? Forget about it.
