The pregnant biz I can understand, especailly if its their first child.  Its a great way to document your pregnancy and share pics and thoughts with other family members and friends who you dont get to see often........but the getting married one is what blows my mind.  Odds are if you are getting married, you are going to be getting divorced within 5 years.  so whats the fucking point.

 That\'s awesome. I hate soon to be brides and grooms.

I dont hate brides and grooms, but statistics prove that over half of marriages end in divorce.  Let\'s be realistic here, those days of dreaming of your perfect wedding, going bananas driving yourself and your friends and family insane with insignificant wedding plans, just equals a lot of wasted time and energy.  I\'ve seen it happen all tol many times.......

Old people. On the road, in the grocery store or at a restaurant. They\'re always cramping my style.

Wah wah wah.   You guys are such debbie f\'ing downers.  Sorry some of us are having happy things happen like marriage and babies.

When you fork out $25 grand for a giant party, I think you have every right to get excited about it! ;)
With that said, 2 days till my wedding :) :) :) :) :)   Barf all you want!

I am actually hoping for a hurricane, cause we have wedding insurance just for that reason, and then i get all the money back.  And then i can just take it all with me to hawaii .....

a girl can dream.

And i am not surprised a natural disaster is approaching on my wedding day.

it\'s fitting.

...congatulations... good luck!!
Lois: What the hell?  Marilyn Manson?  Is that who\'s causing all this?  Peter: Yeah, it\'s all him or hers fault.  Who does he or she think he or she is?  Look, you can totally see his or her nipples.  That\'s obscene... maybe.  Lois: There\'s only one thing to do.  Peter: You\'re right.  We got to find this Marilyn Manson and I\'ve got to give that bastard or bitch a piece of my mind or penis.

Read the title of the thread. And in the other thread my convo with ds#\'s should be considered an isolated incident. I am generally very happy and like the great majority of people on this board. I enjoy .info and don\'t want to be a part of the dark side. Sorry if I have been out of line.

As far as soon to be married folk, I am with Gencs. I\'ve been too close to many weddings lately and the amount of time, money, and stress it provokes make smiling glossy picture albums seem incredibly ironic. I don\'t care for huge weddings, I think everything involved in producing them is super self-interested. I\'ve seen family relationships fall apart because of weddings, but never gain strength from them. When the honeymoon is over, financial clouds roll in for most, and the marital problems begin.

Now I\'m not saying I have no hope for ALL people getting married, there are obviously instances of roses straight through, I can only speak from my own experiences and I haven\'t  seen it. And I have had a damn good time at many weddings, more so when I\'m just a random face in the crowd.

The argument that spending 25k on a day for yourself warrants constant public fluffing is hilarious because nobody else gives a shit about every update, they just become annoying and make the fluffers look ridiculous (which sparked the comments in the first place). Well, maybe the immediate family and most bridesmaids care. I\'m going to go puke now, just talking about it. Sorry Skye! ;)

Now that this conversation is starting to get venomous, I would like to mention that I was just initially saying that I tend block status updates from people getting married. Feel free to get engaged and hire somebody to stream your life online 24/7 for all I care. I just choose not to read about it whenever I decide to kill time on Facebook at work.

If I am ever to be married, it is definitely going to be a casual-simple affair.  25k for a day is not one of my values, but seems to be par for most people.
