joe, one question for you...

how are you supposed to find out about this stuff and buy it if you dont know it exists in the first place?

by the way, everything i posted i downloaded it first and liked it so i bought it. i never even would have considered listening to or buying albums by system of a down, wilco, and tortoise if it wasnt for the internet. i havent heard of a lot of stuff that the other people posted and i am sure i will be buying at least a couple albums that were posted because of this thread.

Fitz I applaud you, seriously. I was very angry when I saw you posted "It\'s All Around You" because I know a few of the band members and Thrill Jockey isn\'t the wealthiest label around if you know what I\'m saying.  BTW I can turn you on to many other bands like Tortoise that I think you would enjoy....

1.allmusic.com
2.rateyourmusic.com FOR EXCELLENT reviews
3.Amazon
4.Friends
5.For older stuff I highly recommend collecting vinyl.\\
6. I\'m going to be a douchebag and toot my own horn, but reccomendation threads.
7. For those who have access to downloading shows, try out dimeadozen and sample some of these bands live beforehand.....

Oh and to add, sometimes it\'s luck,which is how I came across the first PB album. I saw it for sale back in 99, the cover looked cool, the song titles were hetty and I took a chance.... But a lot of it has to do with HOW MUCH you want music. To me getting new music is number one my list so I guess I\'m a little biased

Give this "I\'ve been on the scene soooooooo long" a rest please.  Honestly when I read this I expected the poster to be some sage-like, seen the Dead in Egypt type, old head.  23?!?! You\'ve got be kidding me.  Maybe you can gather all us childrens round for story time bout waay back \'99 when slow dial up connections had us waitin hours for one measely rare b-side!  Back then the internet went uphill both ways!
And the shows! My God! You might have seen PHISH!!!

Anyway, glad ya care, but no need put down younger heads.  One thing that amazes me about .info is how age normally seems irrevelant, and there\'s a great mix of experiences.

I can agree with both sides. and i\'ll be the first to admit i downloaded a couple of the albums and shows posted. and personally i have spent more money on music and band related merch than anything.... well maybe not beer. and like it was said before, a bunch of these dl\'s will just be springboards to go out and purchase more music.

Treychica, voicing your opinion is fine but watch what you say because you maybe be putting down people which will ultimately reflect bad on yourself. And if Dave truly felt this needed to stop he does have the power to end it. so you aren\'t standing up for the oppressed so don\'t be a martyr.

Maybe when you\'re 38+ years old you can make statements like this. Pipe down fledgling!! Even as old as I am, and with all of my exposure to music and "the scene", I wouldn\'t make comments like this!! btw- I hadn\'t heard of a few of these artists either. A couple I really liked and went online and bought (shudder the thought) them. I welcome threads like this and private torrent sites.

Wildcoyote I said NOTHING about being hetty or that whole rdiculous cultural persona. I\'m just stating observsations which are pretty right on the fucking money.  I went through the whole ignorant hippie phase, but I grew out of it and have a more realistic sense as to what "the scene" is about.

Mandler, cool think whatever you  want.

Derick, everyone thinks I\'m a psycho asshole anyway, I\'m at the no turning back point and refuse to keep my mouth shut just for the approval of the small "exclusive" fanbase of one of my all time favorite bands.

Maybe I should reitterate to what "scene" I am refering to. I\'m talking about the one that has popped up within the last 5 years. The one that is full of young, rich, drug addled, white suburban, deluded folks with no sense of community or respect for the music.....

and yes, I love making blanket statements......

And Todd KUDOS, seriously, but as I stated before people who actually purchase the music are VERY FEW and VERY FAR BETWEEN.

if you didnt notice, joe, .info automatically generated links (or dave did it) to buy these albums through amazon.com. if you download them and like them you can go back into the thread and buy them thru a link that gives dave a pecentage which helps pay for this site. since at least 1 person has done that already the artists benefited from it and so has .info. so the more albums that are posted here the more it helps the breakfast because this site is the best way to promote the band.

I really dont give a fuck Mandler seriously. The Breakfast Fam=exclusive=alienating.....

I dont mind pointing it out.

the music on the otherhand=priceless...

Fitz, that\'s ONE person who bought an album through the site. My point is ther are more people who won\'t buy the album and keep the pirated copy, and those people should not be given handouts.

I have been more than tame since Dave let me rejoin the site and I\'ve sat back and read some stupid fucking shit. I\'ve taken MANY potshots with a grain of salt, I\'ve been to a few shows and attempted to socialize and make conversation. Bottom line= the general energy of the fanbase, the ball busting, HOTEY RAGING is toxic to me. I seriously dont give a fuck at this point.  I\'ll continue to see the band as much as I can, support them, push them on as many people as I can and spread their name to ANY person in the music industry that I know, which is quite a few.  
 
Like I said, this thread was the straw that broke the camel\'s back....
