Will someone please help Dobs create a Breakfast podcast ?

I mentioned to Dobs how cool it would be for the guys to have a podcast series.
Not only would it help in exposing their music to a wide range of people it would be sick to have sbd quality tracks of ripping versions of tunes from a tour.
He can also lay out a "setlist" in the podcast to blow us away!
He said he was thinking of doing something like this but has no idea really how to go about it.
Podcasts can be "subscribed" to and when new ones come out they just automatically show up in whatever feed you have set up.

So if anyone has knowledge of how to create a podcast pls contact Dobs when they get back.

They aren\'t very difficult to do and I would be more than happy to help.

But Soundboards at this level are not going to be the "cream" you keep thinking they will.

Unless the band is traveleing with their own board and can use it at the venues they are playing the soundboards are gonna be tough to come by with good quality.

Mixing for FOH and mixing for multitrack soundboard recordings are completely different and they don\'t always get along.

How do you normally get the podcasts ? do u go directly to their site and use the MP3 download method or do you subscribe using a desktop or web based \'podcatcher\' ?

I did some quick reading up on it and its pretty easy to do. Just curious which method most folks are using.

RE: the audio

It is just a long MP3 on tlg\'s site anyway. the RSS feed is just a way to announce that its available. It can be pushed out to \'podcatcher\' software as well as by direct download via link. So there would be some processing / upolading of audio that would need to be done which would require having internet access on the road (if of course you are talking about doing it from the road). If we are talking about just doing a podcast whenever then the issue is moot.

basically an on demand radio show.

I can try and have a few \'Test\' files available ASAP and we can test this sh@t out if you guys are game. Or I could just do a radio show from my server at home but i\'m not sure the interest is there considering what happeend with gdlive.com etc

This is  almost EXACTLY what a podcast is. This file is tracked while mp3 podcasts are just a long ass Mp3 most of the times w/ killer sbd quality  sound. I am sure this will sound great. sbd or not.

They are great because it\'s a quick download and ez to load.

Kindms I use Castpodder for linux and subscribe to about 5 feeds.

The download is taking awhile.
 podcasts i guess need to be hosted and that is why they are so quick. P2P is a good way to start but if we can get them on here or kindms\' site. It would be alot better. just throwing out ideas here.

oh ok, i thought a pod cast had something to do with ipods or itunes.

this sounds really good. i mastered all the tracks so the recordings sound as much alike as possible. i have been handing out a lot of these samplers and people seem to like these a lot. the best part is that its all new tunes.

no due to ipods being sooo popular the word podcast comes from the ipod but it is just an mp3 (ipod being #1 mp3/pod player).
Thanx for putting this together mastering and such. New tunes are huge!

Thing is the way technology is moving and the way most podcasts are distributed sending a link to a P2P site may not be the best thing for the band.
Most of the bands that offer podcasts have them hosted and it is just an mp3 that can be downloaded direct from a site or subscribed to.

Most "industry" folk know all about podcasts and how they are distributed.

The fact that this is not an mp3 podcast (though listed as one mp3 it is tracked and flac) and not available other than from a P2P site(which have been under fire by the "industry") may give the impression that The Breakfast is not up to par w/ the other bands out on the scene that do offer real podcasts.

It is cool that you got it out though and

why can\'t you just transfer a live show to your ipod, why does it have to be continuous? i don\'t care personally because i dont own one but i have transfered cd\'s to my brothers. full shows and all. i hate TLG now, so fuck you my man......

Because a podcast is usually a "best of" from a tour and showcases the band better sometimes than a live show .
