Promotion of Omaha Show
« on: April 27, 2006, 03:05:36 am »
This post is in Response To Spaceys post:
"None of these shows were promoted to the best of my knowledge. As for most of these shows on this little tour.
I would not be surprised if this run outside of the opening slots are DOOZIE\'s!
I try to get folks in the area using myspace but there is only so much one person can do."

Omaha is going to be ragin\'.
I completely agree with you, there is only so much one person can do.  In Omaha, that person is me.  I personally feel that I have done all that I can to have the best show possible on Monday.  This show got alot more exposure then the last omaha show, which i booked and promoted as well.  (big thanks to Esther in Boston). The only reason I am doing this is for the love of the band.  I am taking a financial risk as well.  If the door doesn\'t make enough to pay the breakfast, I pay them.

The breakfast has had radio airtime 3 weeks in a row.  Posters that I had to print off are up at local music stores and head shops. It is advertised in the most read news publication in Omaha (attatched).  I booked the headiest, most crunchy band in Omaha to open, the jazzwholes (10,000 lakes performers).  I am having the show webcasted (so all you cats can see it!!).  The show is booked at the best music venue in Omaha (soundwise and ambiance)... check out the 360 tour @ http://shagavodkabar.com/360.shtml

We dont get that many good shows around here... I can tell you that Handbills (attatched) were passed out by me at these functions:

Keller Williams in Omaha, NE
10,000 Lakes battle of the bands in Omaha, NE
Darkstar Orchestra in Lincoln, NE
Particle in Lawrence, KS
All over Myspace
Random Local shows

All Handbills were made, paid for, and distrubuted by me.  I got 750 handbills color copied on 150 sheets of paper.  At 89 cents per copy I spent $133.50out of my pocket.  Cresendo sent the CD\'s after asking twice, and knowing they were going to the radio station.  With really no other promotional material.  Well, a Yonder CD too.

I just wanted to let you guys know what was going on in Omaha.  I more than anyone here, want this to go smoothly.  I am honestly just a fan trying to see a show.  I also am trying to give the Breakfast the exposure they desrerve.  Thats All.  There are alot of heads in Omaha, it is however, hard to get them to check out new things.  I will say,  word of the band has spread since the last show.

I will be at the Cabooze in MN!!!!!
Hope to see you all there.........
 ............and in Omaha!!!!!
Where Else would you rather be on a monday night???

Attatched is the handbill and the add in the omaha reader(http://www.thereader.com).  The opening band (jazzwholes) is also mentioned twice on that page.  The venue owner is a heady guy, the entire left side of the column is for his venues.  Big up for Terry O!!!

~Peace and Kindvibes~.

Dude....  thanks for taking the initiative to do all of this work!  I\'m sure all of us as well as the band really appreciate it!  Hope the show goes well, and I will definitely be watching!

Do you have a link to where the webcast can be watched?  Any special software that needs to be downloaded beforehand?

Well done, Ando.

When I made that post it was generalization, I totally over looked the love that Omaha has for the band.

Nicely done. You have to do it yourself if you want it done.

Great job. I hope the show goes well for you.

Damn dude!  You\'re setting the bar pretty high.  We\'re gonna look like assholes if the Toad\'s show isn\'t packed!

ANDO!!!!!  BIG UPS TO YOU FOR DOING ALL OF THIS!!!  i\'m soooo glad you are taking credit for booking this second show, you definately should have taken credit for the first one instead of josh.  when i heard that he said he did everything and the way the pizza shoppe treated the band, i was fucking appalled.  if i were back in omaha w/ you i would totally be in for doing assloads of promo work!  i wish more of our friends were helping you out w/ the costs of promotion, but as long as people keep talking abuot the upcoming show, i think heads will show up no matter what.  and also, the wholes\' popularity around omaha will help too, hopefully they will plug the show on sunday night for people to come on monday.  i wish people in the music industry knew that omaha is an untapped resource for new fans and big acts would come more often...hopefully that will change one day.

Excellent work! If you don\'t promote for a living you should think about it. I hope all of this hard work pays off for you. I know the band will deliver the goods on their end.

Mad props to ANDO.  I\'ve been saying all along that these mid-size cities like Omaha are the best places for the Breakfast to break through and get huge crowds outside the noth east.  For instance, if they were playing in Atlanta tonight they would have to compete with Trey and the Disco Biscuits (playing at separate venues), but in the mid size cities the competition is less and a band like the Breakfast can immediately get a huge following.  Eventually they will be able to compete with anyone anywhere but for now they got to work on whatever cities give them a good response.

EXACTLY!!!!  seriously, its like once in a blue moon when someone AMAZING (like the breakfast) come around omaha and it always generates a big buzz all over.  i think its a big treat, not just for fans, but for bands themselves to see people come out for shows. OMAHA LOVES THE BREAKFAST (and i hope vice versa!!)
there are some great venues around town such as the sokol auditorium and the sokol underground.  i saw moe. for the first time there back in HS and it was SOOOOO MUCH FUN.  gov\'t mule, keller williams, and my morning jacket have also played there too, hopefuly next time the breakfast play there, they will play at the sokol.

and yes- SPREAD THE BABY DELIVERY DANCE \'CROSS THE NATION hahaha
ps: ando- TELL THE CARTANTOR TO STOP WHORING HIMSELF ON MYSPACE AND START WHORING HIMSELF ON HERE.  HAVE FUN THIS WEEKEND/MONDAY! :banrock:
