TLG won Song of the Year @ the Jammys
« on: April 22, 2006, 01:30:29 pm »
Hooray for TLG!!

Yeah Jammys mean a whole lot. We all know this.
(Well if capitalized on maybe it means more)

The thing is they were recognized for a SONG!

This is something I have been trying to get across to people.

This band is NOT all about jamming. They are so much more than that.

They write real songs that speak to your soul w/ jams to move your ass!

It is not all about fist pumping and yelling but rather listening and being moved body and soul by the words AND music.

Take a listen to Taught to be Proud it is a song that deserves the accolades.
Worrying is like praying for something you don't want.

ahh Freddie, it took longer than expected but you came through per usual.
What is it that makes you post such hatred?
Is it your secret fondness for TLG?
Your desire to be "cool" and hate on the hottest band?
You make me laugh. Thanx for that.

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals-“Magnolia Mountain”
Benevento Russo Duo-“Becky”
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals-“Toothbrush And My Table”
My Morning Jacket-"Off the Record"
North Mississippi Allstars-“Hurry Up Sunrise”
Tea Leaf Green-“Taught To Be Proud

TLG did not deserve the jammy, the only redeeming part of their song is the "jam". The crowd around me let out a collective groan when TLG was announced as the winner. The kid a couple of rows down, wearing the visor and the dry goods Phish shirt was pretty excited though.

This category is the one that killed me,
Archival Album of the Year

Allman Brothers Band- 5/1/73
Grateful Dead-Fillmore West 1969 The Complete Recordings
Legion of Mary-The Jerry Garcia Collection, Vol. 1: Legion of Mary
moe.-Warts and All 4
Thelonious Monk Quartet: Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall
Phish-Live at Madison Square Garden New Year\'s Eve 1995

I am a Phish fan and I understand that most people point to this show as the band\'s all-time highlight but I don\'t understand how people could have picked this as the winner.
*On a sidenote, I wish Phish would have picked a show for release that all of the fans don\'t have excellent audience tapes of.

Yeah whatever hater. They beat out the other nominees just as fairly as The Breakfast did when they won their Jammy for New Groove.

Just because YOU do not think it was worthy is meaningless now isn\'t it?

Obviously waaay many more people than you and the groaners you mentioned thought it WAS worthy.

Whatever fluffer. Taught To Be Proud sounds like a Partridge Family cover:D
TLG could have condensed that song in your sig down to "stop picking on us":violin:

Actually I voted for Magnolia Mountain
Cold Roses is a kick ass album and that song is the tits!

As for your wiseass comment here is the full song dedicated to you, Wah and all the haters in the scene.

Addressing The Community
Franz would like to address the community

Well I’m a bass man, loving the crowd,
I came to get up, I came to get down
I use to always dream about the band,
Gettin’-a rock, maybe shake a few hands

So its easy to say that I’m happy today
And I didnt even need a jay.
I didn’t even need a jay.

We’re not everybody’s cup of Tea,
But we play from the heart see,
And my name is Ben C.
I try to make my bass lines silky,
Sometimes they’re filthy,
That’s when they call me Milky

I got a bucket of bud, gotta girl that I love
I got a beat that makes me fly like a dove
I guess it’s easy to see, I be the freak that I be
Coming to your town to let my flows be free
You know Snoop Dogg, I understand you better today.
And I still got something to say
I still got something to say

All you haters, stop spreading your seed,
Choppin’ up the music man you’re killin the scene
It ain’t about who’s best, it’s about good times,
About the rhythm, about the rhymes

I’m about to bust, into your door,
To give you some flow baby you knew I was pro
This is Beak, he came to speak,
I brought my cheeks all the way from the Austrian peaks,
To the San Francisco Bay…
And I didn’t even need a jay.

(Chours)
And I didn’t even need a jay…today
Everything is so heavy
And I didn’t even need a jay…today
Everything is so heavy

Don’t be hateful be grateful,
For the groove on your table
Don’t be hateful be grateful
For the groove on your table

Now I can see your cold face,
You’re riding the bar
Hate all you want, kid we’re still going far
Cuz we work hard and play harder than that
And we’re just stars and it’s a natural fact.
We attack the stage when we’re rippin’ a set,
Get about as nutty as a Vietnam vet
I’ll teach ya lil’ a thing or two about sweat boy,
You’re talking to me I don’t believe that we’ve met:

We’ve got The Beak.
We got Scotty Rage.
Not to mention Balls and T-bone on the stage.
We’re gonna form like Voltron and do what we please,
And if you do not like it don’t go cryin to me
Just dont show, hey we can still be bros,
but you never really know which way a Leaf blows

So many haters try to ruin your day,
Just ask my boy Trey, Trey, Trey

And I didn’t even need a jay…today
Everything is so heady
And I didn’t even need a jay
Everything is so heady.
Don’t be hateful be grateful
For the groove that’s on your table
Don’t be hateful be grateful
For the groove that’s on your table

Bring the Green!

{solo}

Don’t be hateful be grateful
For the groove on your table
Don’t be hateful be grateful
For the groove that’s on your table

Why is that?
You have no idea the silky flow that Ben C. has got.

all I see is words that have never been backed-up onstage

Yeah brah, wearing paper-plate masks was real nutty back in pre-school.

Uh Plateface is not in the band and is like Wah a mascot(but w/ an actual reason to be there, road manager or something)

Well seeing as they are able to sell out The Fillmore Aud. I\'d say they were somewhat stars.

Yeah that\'s not sweat dripping of the guys after EVERY show!
hater :sigh:

If they said "we sweat all over the stage when we\'re rippin\' a set" then I would agree with you and them. But they didn\'t.
