A friend of mine just recorded an album in the same studio where John Mayer records his. (Some super famous sound guy... I dunno...) He said that he got to hear bits of a new album that Mayer is (very slowly) working on, and it sounds really good. The sound guy also said that Mayer is "embarassed" by his pop work, and feels like now that he has made the big bucks, he feels really freed up to go in other directions and explore music that appeals to him more. So I say, good for him. It\'s pretty much the opposite of what usually happens with musicians: after the fame and money, the music becomes increasingly commercialized and rapidly goes downhill. Nice to see someone trying to take it in the other direction. However, the sound guy also said that Mayer was so relaxed about working on the new album that he didn\'t know if it would ever be finished. :lol:
If nothing else, John Mayer is a hot piece of ass.
