Coyote, kid, you need to stop. You can\'t say you would "take the guy on my team in a heartbeat" one second and then try to bring him down the next. When you make any effort to bring down a player the caliber of Ortiz, you only bring down yourself.
You say "he cannot adequately field a position". You have no basis to say this. You haven\'t seen him play a position. Just because he plays DH doesn\'t mean he can\'t do it. Would you like me to burn you the DVDs of games 3 and 4 of the 2004 World Series? He made play after play after play at all difficulty levels. And Manny is fine in left. He plays The Wall better than anyone since Yaz, you can ask any Red Sox fan. He gets to just about everything hit at him, does not make many errors, and has led the AL in assists. You don\'t watch the Red Sox, so you don\'t know. He is not a liability whatsoever in the field. Again, you assumed he cannot field because he is such a good hitter. You need to get off this little assumption tangent and know your facts. The fact is that nobody knows how good Ortiz is in the field because the sample size is too small, and anyone who knows what they\'re talking about knows that Manny plays a more-than-adequate left field, and a very good left field at Fenway Park.
The truth is that you can\'t stand Ortiz because he KILLS your team. That\'s perfectly understandable. But don\'t come on here and make an ass out of yourself by saying the most clutch player of the last decade and one of the most dynamic hitters of our entire lifetime isn\'t any good because he plays DH. WHO CARES?
And that comment about how Sox fans would turn on Ortiz because his average is down is so stupid that you should be suspended from .info for a week. About 90% of Sox fans were shocked and sad to see Nomar get traded when he did. And the main reason people were starting to dislike him is because he clearly didn\'t want to play for the team anymore. (Not to mention that he had been in rapid decline and constantly injured for 3.5 straight seasons at that point.) You\'re a Yankee fan, did you watch the game on July 1st, 2004? How would you feel about Jeter if he sat in the dugout picking his nails choosing not to play during an epic battle against the Red Sox? That\'s why Jeter is better than Nomar.
Again, I know you can\'t stand Ortiz, and that\'s fine. But please, cut this stuff out with how he\'s not a good player. It makes you look silly, especially when you gush about how much you would want him on your team in the same breath. Come back here when you have something legitimate to gripe about.
