Nas Illmatic = sick, even Jay-Z "reasonable doubt" = sick...........de la soul = awesome, no matter what they do, but this is indeed sick!
This isn\'t who it would be if it wasn\'t who it is.

Obvious all-time classic. One of the first rap albums to intersperse skits between songs. Also worth noting that De La Soul contributed on Gorillaz hit Feel Good Inc., which was performed at the Grammy\'s.

Funny there should be an old-school hip-hop thread going on while I was watching this movie for the first time.  Just finished it and I have to say, I am astounded.  This movie totally just changed my perception of what a movie can be!  And check the SICK lineup of people who perform in the movie!  Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force, Jam Master Jay, Treacherous Three, Grandmaster Melle Mel and the Furious Five, Doug E Fresh, Kool Moe Dee, and in one of the sickest scenes you will ever see in any movie, a crazy battle between b-boy legends the Rock Steady Crew vs. New York City Breakers.

Also, I know I\'ve mentioned this book before on this board, but if any of yall are serious about your hip-hop history, you MUST read

Absolutely the best non-fiction book I have ever read.
