The only time I saw JID was at Toads around 5 years ago. With Jimmy and Alphonso. Probably about 20 people in the place. One of the best shows I\'ve ever seen by anybody anywhere.

During the set break I bumped into Alphonso at the bar. He asked me how I thought it sounded. I said GREAT!. He said "really?" like he was really surprised. What a nice guy. And Jimmy after the show just hung out talking to everyone. Def some good folks there.
"Anyone who knows a god damn thing about this band and has been there as long as some of us have, know god damn well that this show was something special." Ren re: Toads 8/23/07

I actually had both his solo albums on vinyl  (stupidly sold them along with the rest of my fusion greats), they weren\'t AMAZING, but they weren\'t anything to ignore.  I dont think they EVER existed on cd media....
Sad to hear him playing with "jambands", oh well, better than not hearing him at all :)

Hmm you find it sad. Well dude he has been playing w/ jambands for over 25 years.
He was a member of Bob Weir\'s band in the early 80\'s and also a part of The Other Ones in 2000.
Also played w/ Steve Kimock and Santana along the way.

A. Bobby and the Midnites wasnt a fucking jamband Leith, they were crotch rock. ANd I got a great Bobby and the Midnites song for you, "TOO MANY LOSERS"!!!!

Yeah, I know he has played with Kimock and the Other Ones, thats what I was referring to as the sad jambands. I\'m a huge Kimock fan, but Kimocks songs dont give shit for Alphonso to work with except for the standard generic jamband bass grooves.

The last time I saw Kimock play I felt he didn\'t give room for ANY of the other players to really do much. It was kind of annoying- it wasn\'t so much the composition of the songs- he played all over them. But in his sweet, pretty way of course. :P

I just saw Kimock with Robert Walters the other day and it was sick.  Kimock allowed Walters to play about 5 minutes worth of soloing over the course of the show, but let\'s face it we were there to see Kimock play.  Original music is way better than dead cover anyway.

And how does anybody hate TLG?  It\'s not that bad.
