To all the haters(and there\'s more than I realized): I\'m not gonna sit here and say DBB is a crazy band with sick spacey jams.  Musically they\'re not too crazy but they\'re ALOT of fun, just some down and dirty funk so come on out ya\'ll, we\'ll have a good time.

Plus it\'s the fiest of Saint Pat.  Come get yer puke on!!

as if another reason was needed to get drunk and wasted?

funny how we celebrate the beheading of a martyr by getting f-ing drunk.

I wonder how the alcohol / party aspect of it got introduced

You wonder how the alcohol/party aspect got introduced to an IRISH holiday?

My Aunt\'s funeral is on Friday.....

I think DBB would be an appropiate upper.

"Gettin\' yer puke on" is the next level up from drunk and wasted.  It\'s reserved for special occasions like St. Pat\'s, NYE, milestone birthdays, and your friends sisters wedding (that you\'re only invited to as a cheap alternative to hiring a real videographer, so you consequently end her wedding video with a profanity laced tirade about how much you love her family).

I believe I read once that the Irish started celebrating it w/ such "spirit" because it\'s the half way point of lent and having a day to bath in sin is always a good way to recharge your holy side.

Have you ever seen John Belushi\'s Weekend Update tirade about "the luck of the irish".  One of the funniest damn things ever, because it\'s 100% true:

"OH THE IRISH, THEY LOVE THEIR MOTHERS!  IT\'S ALWAYS MOTHER THIS AND MOTHER THAT, IRELAND MUST BE HEAVEN \'CAUSE MY MOTHER COMES FROM THERE!!!"

well being Irish I take offense to that remark. even tho I resemble it! :)

Actually after I posted he was beheaded etc I went looking to find out if there was a connection to the drinking etc and found out to my dismay that St. patrick was not beheaded or martyr\'d at all. Not sure why I thought that. I could have sworn I saw something on TV that said excatly that but I was wrong.

So to recap. St. Patrick was not beheaded or Martyr\'d
