They\'ve torn this song up every time played for the last three years.  Unfortunately I have seen this song every show I\'ve been to for the last three years.  I\'m getting bored with it and find it to be too dittyish after seeing it 100+ times.  It is their most-played song.  Time to explore some other areas.

SUBS!

Beef Barley, take a breather.  Kote, get in there and show me what you got!

i agree with igzi very much.....he basically put my point to the table.  i got the shelve beef barley idea from wolfman at NYE late nite, though i have been having the same feelings anyways.  the song is weak.  besides fresh cut it is the lamest/poorest song in the breakfast catalogue, and much much MUCH too overplayed.  i think the last "ser" BB jam i heard was at the last porter\'s show.  all the jams i\'ve seen have been mediocre since then. i completely disagree with treychica on the shelve Vt. song statement.  and leith, if i were you, I wouldn\'t worry too much.  but anyways, i for sure am going to bring the shelf beef barley idea up to the guys.  nothing personal so don\'t flip out mothafuckas

oh and also.......DrewKingsley, i disagree with your Phaddy Boom statement. dont get me wrong i got sick of it but now i really enjoy it.  the intense stuff more than the reggae, but seriously, this song is pretty key.  they rarely play it now a days so it\'s nice to hear, in my opinion

Barley has been a great vehicle for some of the best jammin ive heard all year.  when you hear the opening lick i jsut know something hot is gonna come out of this, and as far as shelving it i disagree.  its a great tune for newbs to dig, and of course there is always the potential for something monumental in the jam.  people say it is overplayed but they also are att every single show within the east coast.  not that there is anything wrong with that but that is why its "overheard".

im never down for a beef barley when they start playing it, but in 2005 i usually changed my mind halfway thru because a lot of them were pretty sick. i dont think it should be shelved because its a song that new fans always remember and want to hear. i definitely don\'t need to hear it at daniel st or any other local shows, though. i dont think beef barley will ever get shelved, maybe just played less. but if they want to shelve it and bring back lovelake (and za) that would be just fine with me.

agreed, ive seen it at probably 90% of shows ive been too (including just the end section to close out second set in narragansett, which was cool as hell by the way), and it is a bit goofy.... but this song is totally the one that newbies catch on to at first... myself included.... and i think its a great avenue for some new fans to groove to and then explore some more....
its pretty much the type of song i could get my unknowing friends to enjoy and then get them to a show and then get there socks knocked off.... so i say no shelf, but we\'ll see in another 10 shows or so if i change  my mind

I agree with everyone, play it less. i don\'t think it should be shelved completely though. i think it\'s a good tune though i\'m a funk fan and Ron kills it. I think it\'s also a good way for the guys to work on there vocals and a bit of harmony. i think by playing it they all come back to the same page and it forces them to listen to each other a bit harder that\'s why the jams in the middle are so awesome. oh and on a side note, i\'ve been hearing MiB on the radio like everyday, and BB is no MiB

Do not shelve it for all points stated:ie newb friendly, great jams, etc.  But def played a lil less would get this baby some fresh legs.  It all goes back to the fact that they need to mix up the setlists more.  Inner Glimpse should be shelved, not that it is bad but it also got played WAY too much.

IMHO, BB is definitely one NOT to be shelved. I agree with all the comments about newbies digging it and also about the sick jams which come out of it. Sometimes we here forget that we live and breathe The Breakfast, so of course, some songs will seem to come around too often. Perhaps reduce it\'s rotation, especially in the NE, but it should stay for the tours further afield.

I never got to see the final tracklist for the samplers that were being burned and handed out, but I guarantee that it was one of the first songs to be chosen. Just a thought, but if anyone knows a recipient of said samplers, why not ask them which songs grabbed them the most/least - that would lead to an impartial view on what should and should not be included more regularly.

the jams are bad ass.

the verse melody is really cool.

there are other tunes that are more due for a shelvin\' (no glove, no love?)

NGNL is not played as often as it used to be but if there were a song I would like to see put away for a bit this is the song I would pick.

I love the jam way too much not to hear this song.  It wasn\'t until last summer that I realized how tight the jam is and how much I love it.  If they do shelve it, put in another vote for KOTE!

I dig the newb angle.  Not too many newbs at New England/New York shows these days though.

New idea:  Beef Barley shall be benched only within 150 miles of East Haven.
