well if they are just going to give them the cold shoulder just because they are sick of seeing them being pimped on say the moe. board, chances are they arent the type of closed minded fan the breakfast community wants IMO.

that came out wrong...i meant to say chances are they just closed minded, set-on-one-band kind of fan...they arent needed

that\'s a little harsh...although it IS a moe. board.

On this board you have different forums for various topics.  The PT moe. board that Igz is talking about has one page, and it gets to the point that most topics on the first page seem to be about other bands or random crap, and right now at least, people needing tickets for the New Years Run.  It does get old, but I don\'t mind the Breakfast posts.  Igz does try to keep them to a thread or 2 a week - usually a kick ass show he\'s just seen, or a setlist post, and the weekly Thursday pimping of freddie\'s show.  When there gets to be multiple posts for the same thing, and advertising for the Thursday show this early, people will ignore it.

Nothing wrong with pimping the b\'fast but you need to remember that PT moe. is moe. territory and that they will defend it as such.

I\'ve seen Wah get murdered on Pheesh for pimping the band, simply for putting up a setlist. People do get tired of seeing the same shit. There is nothing you can do, its a fact of life on the internet.

so why stop just for the PT assholes? i guess thats what my point is. i really wasnt trying to pick Igziabeher apart. i actually agree with him. but, you gotta realize that every board on PT gets frequented by many people who dont even post because of these assholes (i\'m one of them), yet continue to read on because there are always some threads or posts within a thread (even if its hijacked by flamers) that are relevant and that strike interest to those who are there to discuss music or anything else in a positive, mature manner. Just because the pricks who flame and bitch and whine stand out more there, it doesnt mean that there arent any real, passionate music fans that are constantly seeking out new stuff to hear. i agree that we shouldnt swamp the PT boards with Breakfast related threads, because thats just bad taste and would only get the attention of said assholes. but we shouldnt feel totally reluctant to do it...i like this thread. it makes me think of how great of a place this board is.

There is a fine line and limit between pimping/fluffing and over saturating. When you cross it, you sort of burn your bridges. When you do try to make a post about the band that is suppose to be taken seriousily, you get met with assholes and their remarks. If Igzy and Oldnewbie have it taken care of on PT moe., then leave it at that. You also don\'t want the band to have potential fans cast aside because someone continousily fluffs the band. We don\'t want people to be turned away for some lame excuse as such, but it is the way the internet works. If there is anything I am not, it is a passive fan who does not endorse the band every chance I get.

I think Igziabeher has the right idea.  You can\'t just fluff fluff fluff on the internet or people will push back.  It\'s not like it is with flyers where you want to get them up everywhere.

Internet fluffing is like hard drugs: There\'s a point up to which it\'s good, but anything beyond that brings on negative reactions really fast.

Imagine the forums are real life.  Like say everyone on .info is at a Breakfast show.  At the end of first set you turn to the guy next to you and say "Wow, how about that Buquebus?" to which he replies "Tea Leaf Green kicks ass!"  You then notice that that guy goes around to everyone at the Breakfast show and does nothing but talk about Tea Leaf Green.  It doesn\'t matter what anyone else is talking about and and it doesn\'t matter what band is playing, he just talks about Tea Leaf Green.  This guy is a total loser.  Nobody likes him.  By the third time this guy strolls up to your conversation and says "Guess what?  Tea Leaf Green is playing here soon!", everyone tells him to shut up and walks away.

You\'ve got to establish respect first, then slip them the fluff when they\'re comfortable with you.  They shouldn\'t even think it\'s fluff.  If you think your post is fluffing, you haven\'t established your respect properly yet.

I\'m content to leave PT moe. to Igziabeher.

i guess...but again, since the original topic was about PT specifically, the way i see it, the only negative reactions I see in general there, at least on the Bisco and Trey boards, are from the assholes that have plagued the site over time. You have to ask yourself, how far will these negative reactions go? You have to be a real dork (even more than me) to be that guy who desides to get all bent of shape just because another band is getting fluffed or pimped or whatever you want to call it in a music related forum (of the same genre). It\'s not tough to skip over a thread, so they can take a seat on my thumb if they get pissy about it. It\'s flooded with enough nonsense already, so why not throw in a couple of Breakfast fluff threads? When it gets negative reactions, the smart readers will be able to recognize the assholes the moment they read their negative, holier-than-thou attitude responses. I personally would\'nt post up thread after thread about the Breakfast on there, and I can definitaly see where Igzi and you are coming from, but I would not give a shit what kind of reactions I bring up in a PT forum because of the overall credibility to which it holds (which is minimal). Maybe a few years ago I would be cautious, or if it were a more official forum put together by the band rather than the fans I would be cautious just the same if not more so, but certainly not now. It\'s flooded with young hotheaded punks who would reject any other up-and-coming band just for the spite and ignorance of it all. These punks outweigh the people who are trying to discuss various topics in an intellegent way. These types of closed minded, nonexcepting people have even become more prevalant in the scene outside of the internet as well, and should/can be ignored.

The original topic was about the moe. board not all of PT. All of the boards on PT have their own personality and etiquette. The moe. board is not like the Trey/Phish/Bisco boards. Nonsense that goes on in those forums (which contributes to their not being taken seriously) is not as common amongst the moe. crowd.

When board regulars have negative reactions to fluff threads it leads to negative images of the fluffed bands and their fanbases. Desperation also turns people off and that is what a lot of these fluffing threads can reek of if they are not handled properly.
