Countdown to Utica?
« on: November 10, 2005, 10:19:46 am »
On Trey\'s site, there\'s a "Countdown to Utica".  When you click it, it just goes to another page that has a time counter counting down to the show tomorrow night.

I\'ve read some quotes from a couple recent Trey interviews where his tone about Phish being done for good has changed.  See http://www.bringphishback.com.

Page played with Trey\'s band at the Roseland.  Trey\'s been playing a bunch of Phish tunes in his sets recently.  Not just "Trey band Phish tunes (first tube, sand, etc.), but Phish Phish tunes.  Mike apparently was chanting Utica in a song at some show he played (not sure when).

So, what\'s up with Utica.  TerryOB alluded to perhaps a Phish reunion of some sort and I\'m hearing and sensing the same thing.  Does anyone have any information other than speculation.

WHY DOES TREY HAVE COUNTDOWN TO UTICA ON HIS WEBSITE????

I already bought my tickets so I\'m going to find out goddammit.

I want Phish to come back and TOUR...there I said it, I don\'t care if it is "the past" I do not want to "get over it", I want those four dorks to get back on the road and I want to follow.

I think I am gonna go. It seems like it could be going down. But I could just be wishful thinking. But what the hell else is the countdown for? A friend told me when paige came out the other night trey said they were starting a new band called "half way there" and that gordo has been front row at shows chanting phish.

so this sudden mood change is usually evidence of drug use

If Phish appears on stage tomorrow night, the rock world would change?

As much as I love Phish and would love to see them tour again, it would be a weaksauce move to have claimed to be retiring and then come out again.

but,

Phish is known for fucking with the fans
Love many, trust few and don\'t be late.

there was a TAB show at that venue once and the place was rocking out of control and there was some danger of shit colapsing or something, so trey had to stop rocking out and play the rest of the shouw acoustic.

Perhaps this is related.

I have been thinking about this non stop for a while now. I am just gonna go and see what happens.

The atomic bomb picture and countdown has to mean something tho

So, you\'d rather have them not get back together for the sake of sticking to their claim that it was over?

People change as time goes on.  At the time, they may have thought that was it.  If they have changed their mind, I\'ll be ecstatic if they go back on their word.

As a big sports fan, you can be certain that I was happy when Jordan and Clemens both went back on their word.  Let it transcend into music.

I know what you\'re talking about but I\'m pretty sure this is a different venue

When Mike and Leo played New York a couple of weeks ago Mike did repeat "Utica" a couple of times during the show. He never offered any explanation but people immediately began speculating about Trey\'s Utica show.
Trey did joke about him and Paige starting a new band and calling it "Half Way Something" I don\'t remember the last word. You would not believe how happy Trey and Paige looked playing together. Smiles ear to ear the whole time, laughing and joking with each other (not the fans) in between each song, and generally just enjoying being together.

The other theory going around is that Utica is far too large of a venue for Trey\'s new band and they are fearing a doozy of a turnout. What better way to drum up ticket sales than start a rumor that Phish might make some sort of return at that show.

Phish!phish!phish!phish!phish!phish!phish!phish!

I wouldn\'t care if they said they were going to retire after every tour, as long as there is another one, and another one, and...well you get it.

While I have thought of this as a possibility, I find it hard to swallow that Mike, Page, and Trey are in a grand scheme of deception just to strum up interest for a Trey show that could have been booked at a smaller venue.

Something is definitely going down tomorrow night.  For Trey to have that countdown posted on his website and then to have just an average ho-hum no surprise 70 Volt Parade show might turn some people off.

Leo Kottke is playing solo in HI so we know Mike has no plans.  I haven\'t heard of Fishman touring either.  So, it\'s not out of the question.
