You just have to be aware of what type of security setting you are in and not cross the line.

At beardslee I was smoking retarded amounts of pot in the open.
passing whiskey and jager bottles around
feeding people sweet breath
BRinging in 4 beers at a time from my car
ETC ETC ETC

If i had done any of that at the webster i woulda OBVIOUSLY been dunzo.

Just realize where you are and act accordingly or suffer the consequences.

Its not that complicated.

exactly, rather than bitching about shitty security we should look at the REAL issue at hand:

shitty sound.

I\'d like to re-interate that this post was started because someone was sitting in the photo pit with a pass and a medical condition, but because they were not shooting pictures security tried to kick him out. Yes, security was doing their job to check the person, but once they saw that they had authorization to be there they should have left him be instead of trying to kick him out. I agree, if you have authorization to be somewhere or are just having a good time they should leave you alone. If your going to sneak something in though, you do it at your own risk.

so i got kicked out last night...
i had to use my lighter. a security guy saw me kneeling like i was so he came to check me out thinking that i was lighting something up. and just my luck, my piece fell out too (idiot for bringing it in) which happened just in time for him to see. so he grabbed it before i did and continued to push me several times (with a good amount of force) until i was out the door.

:tool:
No offense YoMa, but you\'re lucky that you were just forced out the door & not locked up... it\'s kids like u who give this band a bad rep.

It seems like this discussion comes up every yr. about the Webster.  Not that I\'m the "queen of safety," or anything, but I agree that these guys are just doing their jobs.  They may be hardasses, but so what?!  They take their jobs seriously and are looking out for everyone who goes there.

since when does the band have a bad rep?  did i miss something?  there\'s being hardassed and there\'s just being dicks.  Somethings they do there are crossing the line.  Like not letting anyone under 21 outside smoking cigs back in w/o warning them well enough.  I had no issues though, I\'m used to it and keep an eye open at all times(all the while doing some of the shadiest things in almost plain view.  Boston security is by far the worst(The Paradise, Avalon, Harper\'s Ferry. etc.), so I\'m used to it.

well stated gregg.... i am all about abiding by (most) of the rules, but seriously we\'re not smashing into each other or trying to smuggle in guns or anything... shows are supposed to be fun, and i for one dont like the feeling that i\'m being constantly monitored and watched while i\'m just trying to hear some music....
... and yeah, since when did the breakfast get a bad rep??? YoMa, sorry about gettin booted, i was booted too but managed to get back in.... but by NO means do i think you deserve to be locked up...
and what CAN you do, when your world is invaded by a reggaejunkiejew?!?

WOW Spacey...you are almost back up to full sentences....  Ser MuuMuu!!!!!  Had me rotfl all night....CLASSIC!

I was kicked out last night as well.  We all make rookie mistakes from time to time, and you gotta lie in your bed if you make it.  My only problem with the Webster security is that they are a bit too abrasive and way too standoffish.  I know they get a lot of different types of bands in there with different types of fans, but they should really at least to pretend to put forth an effort to understand what kinds of scenes they are dealing with on a show to show basis.  I guess going 100% nazi all the time is a good way to just keep their asses covered, but it can really hurt the vibe of the show for the fans and the band......

I was kicked out at setbreak but was up front by the time the lights went down for second set.

I hope that all the negativity that constantly surrounds this venue doesn\'t keep people from coming to NYE.....

I dont post about the Web but I think heres a good place..I havent been back to the webster since 97 for any band. That includes reggae bands and I see them all...I started going there in 90 when they still had theatre seating in there..... Theres other places for a show. I hope NYE goes well for the band and I hope its a big turnout...But after that hopefully they change it up a little... Ive seen more than one band stop doing gigs at that place.. Its mostly because the bands care about there fans and want them to have a good experience... I know sometimes it takes a while to find a new venue...
Im sorry to bring anyone down and the show looked great on paper...

Let\'s put this one to bed right now.  Neither the band nor its fans has any sort of bad reputation.  It does not exist.  This is an isolated and erroneous comment that just came out the wrong way, that\'s all.  It takes hundreds of fans doing hundreds of sktechy things over at least a year on drugs way shadier than pot to get a band any sort of bad drug reputation.  I can barely remember any such incident ever.  Pot-smoking fans cannot possibly give a rock band a bad rep.  Every rock band that ever played a concert has fans who smoke **** in the audience.  lol...you wanna hear what a bad rep for a rock band really would be?

"Hey have you heard that band called The Sobers?"
"Yeah, I heard they like look down on all drug use and yell at their fans for somking pot and nobody even drinks at their shows."
"WTF?  I\'m not going to see them!"

So anyways...does Webster security try too hard?  Yes.  (They have a lot of shows that have rough crowds.)
Was it really bad luck for YoMa that they caught him?  Yes.
If venue security plainly sees your marijuana should you expect to get kicked out and do they have every right to kick you out?  Yes.  It sucks but it\'s common knowledge that **** is still illegal, that\'s just how it is.

Klout got it right there.  Key is be smart!!  Son\'t get me wrong there are some extrenuating circumstances and they can be especially rough at the webster but keep that in mind going in, and as has been said before nobody that i know of went to jail sat night....

I didn\'t know that my little hypothetical band actually existed.  Boy is Earth Crisis in trouble, with a rep like that.

"Earth Crisis\' chugging riffs and barked declarations served as the mouthpiece of America\'s militant vegan straight-edge movement throughout the \'90s, detailing the ideas of animal and human liberation, drug-free living, and personal empowerment through hardcore song."

Apparently this genre inspired one of my favorite band names of all time, Vegan Reich.
