^^what?

from time to time, I get this little sound in my head, it\'s tough to explain, ummm, it\'s like some mornings I wake up with a Phish tune in my head and I need to play that tune first thing, sometimes it is a dead tune or a biscuit tune. Well, I have had this little riff/sound going around in my head, not sure if it is funky, bluesy or reggae or what but it is up there and I need to find it.
Love many, trust few and don\'t be late.

Leith   settle, settle, we\'ll all friends here.  I was describing their sound, and by the way why the fuck do I care if Neil Young, Bob Weir, and Warren Haynes like this band when I don\'t even like 2/3 of them.  Simply because they\'re big names?  Fuck that!

All I\'m saying is "meh" is a piss poor way to think of a band as talented as TLG. The fact that the 3 people I mention happen to produce WONDERFUL music that hardly any of us would consider "meh" leads me to think they would not sit around for "meh" music. My point is for all those that may read these posts and realize that maybe if those 3 people liked it maybe your and Genc\'s "meh" rating was B.S.
That\'s all. :)

Meh = not TLG, no way.

Only time I saw them was in Colorado on 4/20/04(?), Tim got up and jammed with them for a few tunes it was very cool.  Other than that, a very SanFran kinda band, good but mostly I agree w/ Gencs (see above)

Yeah a very SanFran kinda band that has fans like Neil Young, Bob Weir, and Warren Haynes to name a few.
You know the "meh" kind of music they are into. PFFFT!!!!!!

Oh and on that note I have decided not to listen to Genc\'s advice on any music until he sheds his "Deadhead disease" you know the disease Bob Weir and Jer used to talk about when he described Deadheads that ONLY listened to the Dead and nothing else. The ones that thought GD was it and all else was crap?
It is Myopia of the ears i tell you!

First off...
"meh" doesn\'t equal "I think its crap".....
I really dont think anyone who creates music other than what I listen to is crap.  I love music and the feeling it gives me.  Just because your band you like, or this band I should check out, doesnt float my boat, doesn\'t mean I think it sucks....

You continually attack me for "not broadening my horizons", what kind of bunk crap is that?  I really like to listen to The Jer Band, The other Jer Band, Phish, and the Breakfast.  My horizons are broadened from the same version of "Ain\'t No Bread In The Breadbox" or "Run For The Roses" or "Punch You In The Eye" or "Buquebus".  I can listen to these bands over and over and be just as content as you are by listening to whatever you listen to.  I found what I love and I love to listen to it.

When I am hanging out at someones house or in their car or out somewhere, I really dont care what is on the radio and I have no problem listening to someone elses "favorite" music, but when I am on my own, I want to listen to what I want to listen to, and that, my friend, is that.  I dont feel the wanderlust or need to search for something that I have already found.

Am I ruling out the possibility that there is something else out there that can move me the way the above bands/musicians do? No......  I am a firm believer that everything happens the way it is supposed to happen.  I just follow my instincts.  They have kept me alive for almost 30 years.....  I think I will stick to that...

there is very little i have listened to that moves me emotionally like the Grateful Dead, there are fewer moments where i was completely lost into the music like i have felt at Breakfast shows aside from Phish shows. but what i listen to reflects my mood weather it be for a couple hours to weeks to months. so after all that, i would have to say, for me, the Breakfast is the only band that i have heard recently that brings it. that\'s not to say i don\'t like other bands, I\'m listening to Moe right now 10-23-04 Taft Theater. Couple of first time played. but there\'s just something about the Breakfast.

I have heard many good things about TLG\'s bass player. I am going to have to check out some of the shows on archive. Any ones in particular that stand out?

Actually the latest show from the Queen Mary Lounge on the Xingolati Cruise is up now and though a short show it ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ANY \'05 Festie set will be a sure thing also!

downloading now based on your recommendation.  IT BETTER BE GOOD!!

Uhhh Well? What did you think?

Uhhh Well? What did you think?

As of the first listen, I like it.  As with many live recordings, the vocals are cloudy which is annoying.  But my interest is peaked and I\'m going to grab a couple more of their shows off Archive.org.  Any further recommendations?

yeah the next night on the Lido deck. I bought the show they sold so stream the LMA aud. It\'s actually a good recording on LMA but I can send you the copy i have which is crystal clear. I just got done listening to it again today. It is a longer show. Really I think they are at that type of turning point PB was @ in \'03 where everyone became equals in the band @ least to my ears. So any recent show is most likely worth getting. I know every show i seem to listen to lately does not disappoint.

Leith...you took my thoughts right out of my head.  I really don\'t listen to that much Breakfast on disc.  I really do not know what it is?  For some reason I just don\'t get into it as much mentally as I am at the show.  I have listened(streamed) pretty much everything off of Archive from this year so I can keep up with the momentum of this band, but as far as DL shows it is basically just GD, Phish, Hot Buttered Rum, Brothers Past and, of course the Biscuits.  I would say that I have at least 100 or more full shows from each of those bands(except for HBR)...for the Breakfast probably 30 TOPS and most of those are PB not tB.  Maybe it is bc I see them so much(often), but it is strange, even to me.
