any specific reason?  I mean yeah it\'s a good thread and all but what makes it so much more special than all the others?

Supposedly seats 650, but that has been asked to be reviewed, most likely an inaccurate number.

This should be an interesting show considering that it is in the Town Hall. Wonder if it is some kind of benefit.

seats 550 (400 floor, 150 balcony)...it\'s a beautiful old theatre built in 1930\'s for vaudeville acts. Preservation Hall Jazz Band (most famous of New Orleans) was just there and blew the roof off! It\'s not in a town hall...it\'s in a Theatre at the Town Hall location, connected. Picture a smaller version of The Palace in New Haven. No alcohol, but there are a bunch of local bars in the area to hit up before hand and they run concessions with water, orange drink, popcorn, snacks, etc...the sound company that\'s doing the show is very good so the music will be on the level.

It is a benefit for WPKN, a station that has a great relationship with The Breakfast, plays their music, and which the band listens to a lot. I had Tim perform live solo acoustic on the air like 9 months ago...it was cool, he was on for like 4 hours, playing, talking/interviewing, and spinning tunes of his choice. Anyone else catch that???

More info on it at www.wpkn.org/concert/  I am psyched to see them in a small room, the sound will rock  - they are doing 2 sets and they have a great opener, it\'s reasonable for a benefit at $20. I look forward to meeting some of you there!

I found more info on it at www.wpkn.org/concert/ and saw it on jambase too. Still not on official band or crescendo sites, probably after FF7. I am psyched to see them in a small room, the sound will rock  - they are doing 2 sets and they have a great opener, it\'s reasonable for a benefit at $20. Sweet sounds a lot like The Ridgefield Playhouse. This is cool. a straight shot down 84 and for a good cause.

WPKN is hands down CT best radio station (89.5 - set it on your car radio!!).  I learned more about music in the year internship I did there then any other time in my life.  Chris Tesky does a bluegrass show on some Wednesday nights that is stellar, he\'s a real student of music, turned me onto Old And In The Way.  Phil Bowlers jazz program and Amir "Wednesday Nights @ The Movies" are definitely worth a listen.  They are close to ending their latest fundraising session (but it\'s not too late to make a donation - it\'s a tax write off, so give generously).  It always amazes me the job that they do on a shoe string budget, 99% volunteer work, people doing it for the right reasons, because of the love they have for the music and for the dying radio format.

^^  unlike other public radio stations PKN takes ZERO $$$, yes zero casho from any government groups or funds, so a donation is a good idea and they are very worthy

Much agreed...I have been exposed to so much music from them and it\'s always good for a surprise or two!!! I don\'t even think of this as a donation, for $20 there are 2 awesome bands which will be playing for like 4hrs total that it benefits WPKN as opposed to some corporate entity is just a bonus! Totally worth the price...and something to look forward to in November. I am getting some flyers together, so if anyone is interested in getting some copies to post in their area and raise some grassroots awareness just let me know...

OK, for those who haven\'t heard it before, I do a show on WPKN called Organic Radio the 1st Tuesday of the month at 10pm. That\'s tonight, I will be playing some of the FF7 show for those who may have missed it and are in the general listening area 89.5FM in Bridgeport and 88.7FM in Montauk...covers a lot of CT all along the i-95 corridor into Rhode Island, pretty much all of Long Island in case you want to tune in. I will be talking a bit about the show coming up on 11/18 may replay some of the interview and live music from Tim when he was on my show in December and will also be playing some live Cosmic Jibaro\'s, who will be opening, from when they performed live on my show last month. And then from there I will be playing whatever I can pull together. Tune in if you can and please spread the word about this show...

Thanks to ME! for grabbing some flyers on covering the general Danbury area...if anyone else would be interested in helping just send me an email to bill@organicradio.org

peace,

bc

You can listen online http://www.wpkn.org but the stream is fairly low quality...trying to convince others to allow this to change, but WPKN is a very low budget operation. They are minimalist, and since it\'s 100% listener supported, we are pretty frugal...

I understand AJ will be playing it tomorrow night on WVOF 88.5FM if you\'re back in the area by then.

peace,

bc

this show coincides with my autumn trip to waste haven to visit my old college buds, and its on the way!

is it a full length show?

(and by the way, WNHU 88.7 is also good non-commercial radio in CT.)
