ooff. I dont think I can do it. The books I buy I keep. maybe some paperbacks. This is like someone saying, "you\'ve had your dog for a year now and already played with it - now trade it with me for this cat. I always wanted a dog."

I\'ll try, but it aint gonna be a long list.

I used to save my books as well.  Then I moved a couple times.  I had an epiphany while lugging my 3rd box of books up a flight of stairs = THIS SUCKS!!

I VERY rarely give away books. Rentals, yes, if you give me your Rolex for collateral. I pretty much never give away hardcovers. If I have given you a book, you are special. :P

Yes, I am a selfish, materialistic, terrible person. I HOARD BOOKS.

I have crates upon crates, boxes upon boxes of books, and wouldn\'t have it any other way. Yes, moving is a bitch, but it\'s worth it. I re-read a lot. Not to mention, when I am arguing with someone I have a huge arsenal of information to draw from. Althogh I really don\'t argue much. (:

Yea, I\'ve had that, but I check books out of the library, so its rare that I buy them. I have also read a couple of the classics online. My collection is small, but its stuff I\'d find hard to part with.

examples:
Egyptian book of the dead with word over word english/hieroglyphs
Malius Malifactrum
Vitalogy full 1920\'s version (think of pearl jam)
The book of Enoch from the 1913 greek translations (all 9 in 1 volume)
Full Dark Tower series
1892  printing of Alice in wonderland (2nd edition to include the illustrations)
Myths of Ancient Babelon

Good Lord!  I\'m not talking about books like this.  I\'m talking about trading, paperback pulp, stuff you read on a whim.

I\'ve got a 1950\'s first edition about Igor Sikorski that I would never loan out.  And I\'ll probably ask for my copy of A People\'s History back from Spacey when he\'s done with it.

Glad to see there are others who won\'t throw out books. Until last year, when I had to do a bit of a cull, I had NEVER thrown out a book since about the age of seven. Still have all my Chronicles of Narnia and the Earthsea trilogy though they are pretty battered now. These days, my wife doesn\'t know what to complain about most - my CDR or book collection.

Books are books. If there not worth more than you paid for it than trade it. but this coming from a guy who owns like 5-6 books and uses spell check religiously.

Celestine Vision- living with Spiritual awareness
Secret of Shimbala- the 11th insight
Dark Star- oral biography of Jerry Garcia
Living With the Dead- twenty years on the bus w/
Garcia- by the editors of the Rolling Stone
Deadhead forever
the complete Kama Sutra
1001 Construction details
Building Codes
and 4 years of college notes ranging from Calculus to Physiology from Art of Film to my Senior Thesis, doddles included free of charge

all i ask is they come back the same way they leave.
never trouble trouble till trouble troubles you

see thats the kind I buy. The rest I check out of the library, or if its so rare that I can\'t find it anywhere I\'ll buy - which is how I ended up with my own copy of enoch. Yale rare books had it, but you can\'t check them out, let alone go in the same bullet-proof glass inner building with the manusripts. People have given me a ton of paperback that I\'ll let out, but mine is a small collection.

Would LOVE to waste a lifetime reading in there. The only thing more impressive than the titles in the collection is that most of them are first editions and autographed.

i\'d suggest people read The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.  if anyone really wants to read this, let me know and i\'ll buy you a copy.

Quote

In this book don Miguel reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, The Four Agreements offers a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love. The Four Agreements has the potential to help you move your attention from what the world thinks you "should" do or be to what you know is right for you, reclaim scattered personal energy and power, and open up to a deeper intimacy in personal relationships. According to don Miguel Ruiz, everything we do is based on agreements we have made — agreements with ourselves, with other people, with God, with life. But the most important agreements are the ones we make with ourselves. In these agreements we tell ourselves who we are, how to behave, what is possible, what is impossible. One single agreement is not such a problem, but we have many agreements that come from fear, deplete our energy, and diminish our self-worth.

Either, if you want a book back, just make that clear @ the time of trade.

I left my copy of "Che" in an airport with a sign on the top of it that said "Free".

I should have my list up some time tomorrow.

Peace and goodnight.
