The NEXT Breakfast Album
« on: September 28, 2005, 02:22:12 pm »
Nope, no insider information here.  Just a bit of wonderin\'.  Which of the current Breakfast songs that don\'t appear on a Breakfast album (Zone 1 not included) do you think will and will not (NOT should and should not) be on future Breakfast albums.  Future "full show" live albums not included, of course.

THE LIST
---------
Beer Jubilee
Bugs
The Chase
Cut Me Some Slack (instrumental)
Dig
Funk (instrumental)
Funky Bill\'s Circus Cliché (instrumental)
Gladys Pimp & Kangaroos With Me
Gypsy Girl
Hard Luck Harry
Kote
The Late And Great
Language Of The Gods
Lit
Love Lake
May Fly Disarray
Merge
Prom \'97 (instrumental)
Son Of Simpleton
Space City Affair (instrumental)
Sundance
Wake Up in a Coma (instrumental)
Za

THE OPINION (In the form of an NFL injury report)
------------------------------------------------

OUT
----
Beer Jubilee
Funk (instrumental)
Gypsy Girl
Kote
The Late And Great
Love Lake
Prom \'97 (instrumental)
Space City Affair (instrumental)

DOUBTFUL
----------
Bugs
Funky Bill\'s Circus Cliché (instrumental)
Lit
Son Of Simpleton
Za

QUESTIONABLE
--------------
Gladys Pimp & Kangaroos With Me
Language Of The Gods
May Fly Disarray
Merge
Sundance
Wake Up in a Coma (instrumental)

PROBABLE
---------
Cut Me Some Slack
The Chase
Dig
Hard Luck Harry

To give some scope about how little this means, remember, first of all, that this is my NO INSIDER INFORMATION and USUALLY WRONG opinion.  And more importantly, when Bona Fide was released, only three of the songs on Real Radio (Fairy, Score, and The Grand Scheme of Things) had ever been played live.

Go at it, debate monkeys.

I would love to hear studio versions of Gladys Pimp, Language, and Love Lake.  Drew I\'m wondering why you\'d be doubtful on those songs?

mayfly, cmss, hlh.

from what i understand, the chase was recorded during the RR sessions and they decided that it didnt fit on the record.  or am i entirely making that up?

Hopefully there will be some new fucking songs on the next album.....
Judging from the past I would say we aren\'t due for another album till about 2008 or 2009 ;)

True, it was also going to be on Bona Fide, but they thought it was too up tempo.

Ask and you shall receive...

QUESTIONABLE
--------------
Gladys Pimp & Kangaroos With Me - It doesn\'t really have an ending, and it\'s not exactly a great song without the sickest jam in the Breakfast catalog.
Language Of The Gods - This was the closest to being a "definite" that made this category.  Tie breaker: They haven\'t played it in over a month (08/12/05).
May Fly Disarray - Another close one.  I just don\'t see it fitting in the scope of an album (at least not with the CURRENT repitoire of songs).
Merge - More of a jam dressed up like a song, but could be turned into a song very easily.
Sundance - Not played enough right now.  Then again, this hypothetical album could be two years down the road.  How often were The Chase and Dig played when they were Real Radio possibilities?  Every night.
Wake Up in a Coma (instrumental) - Short and instrumental.  Plus, it\'s on Zone 1.

Personally, I\'d love to see what they did with Gladys. That song has been really growing on me lately.

I think it was more that that had a lot of songs to choose from, and that was the one that got cut, but yes in it\'s essence this is true
