Forsberg is on a MISSION this year and has all but promised the city of Philadelphia(which although smaller may have tougher fans to play for than NYC) and the League that the cup will be in Philly at seasons\' end.

I think the NHL will make a full recovery in 2 years.  Of course, full recovery means they will only get back to their original struggling state, but I think they\'ll be alright.  Give the world a couple of good postseasons and everyone who was on board before will be back.  In the meantime, hope your local cable company carries Outdoor Life Network!

Flyers winning the cup, don\'t see it happening. Peter Forseberg is, without a doubt, the best player in the world, but it takes more than the best two-way player in the game to win a cup.

The Bruins did a piss poor job with signing free agents, both within the system and from other clubs. Sure they got Thornton and Samsonov back, and finally got Raycroft to sign, but they went into the free-for-all with the most money to spend and in my opinion got nothing out of it except Thornton. They could have very well landed Modano among others to compliment him, though I am not taking anything away from Glen Murray (he\'s been terrific in black and gold). Brian Leetch is not a what I consider a high profile signing. I think he\'ll be good and add alot of leadership and experience, but he\'s over the hill, and he\'s from Chesire. Bruins will finish the season with the 3rd best point total in the east and fall to the Canadiens (again) in the playoffs. But I hope I am wrong and it turns out to be their year. Bergeron, Thornton, Samsonov will be the best power play unit in hockey (quote me on that), though they may stick Patrice on the point as he did in Providence last season.

Rangers? take one from the sox fans, wait till next year.

Penguins? best turnaround in the NHL, but need a proven goaltender (im not sure who they have but I think Fleury or whoever their youngin is is the starter). I am excited to have a chance to watch Crosby skate with Lemieux, both on TV and on October 22nd when I will be in attendance.

Islanders? wait..who?

any other teams need criticism?

Flyers won their division without Forsberg and really did not lose anyone that is too important...what is going to keep them from bein a frontrunner with that kind of addition???

I think LeClair and Roenick are pretty important losses both on the ice and in the lockerroom, in my opinion, and no matter who the player one great player cannot replace two very good players.

Maybe I was the only person watching this, but might I say, Let\'s Go Rangers!!!
I won\'t get delusional about this season\'s prospects, but it was great to see the team kill penalities, work hard, and have Jagr net the tying and winning goals at Philly to spoil Forsberg\'s debut. The Eric Lindros era is officially and mercifully over.

Sidney Crosby update.

I went to the Bruins/Penguins game this past Saturday and saw the NHL\'s "savior." I was impressed, but I was also unimpressed.

First, the kid does some shit with the puck that I haven\'t seen since EHHS\'s #14 in 1997. He has awesome hands and a great knack for finding an open man with tape to tape passes, which is one of the reasons I was unimpressed; he tends to look for an open teammate instead of taking the puck in, beating the defenseman, and shooting, or I saw 2 or 3 times where the defenseman would have made an great screen on the goalie, but he still passed instead of shot (he did have 2 assists on Pitts 3 goals, one which was set up by some ser moved by him). Seeing as he is only 18 I can say he\'s going to be phenemonal in like 2-3 years. But also seeing has he is only 18, he plays like an 18 year old; he made some stupid mistakes that don\'t fly in D1 college hockey, nevermind the NHL. But, hey, he is only 18. He has the skill, he has the hands, he has a good enough shot, what he doesn\'t have is the knowledge of the NHL game, which he will learn soon enough (he didn\'t seem to know what to do or where to be when he didn\'t have the puck).

Another problem I saw was he was not playing on a line with Super Mario which I think could make this kid better quicker. He skated one powerplay (maybe it was a 4on4, dont remember) with Lemieux and the two of them set up at least 3 or 4 scoring chances in that one shift, but that was it, one shift.
