I was down there for a week in 2002 and after seeing some of the filth that populates that city, maybe this is just the cleansing it needs....

they\'re shooting at rescuers because they feel like they\'re being abandoned.  The people organizing the bus runs wouldn\'t let folks on the buses unless they were already being housed at the Superdom.  A couple gun cracks have changed their story.  Now everyone gets to go.  I say bravo to the guntotting.  Makin\' shit happen!  I hope when Bush tours there tomorrow, they have the same attitude!

Here is one of my favorite images out there. For one reason or another, this one has stuck in my head. I first saw it one the news and everytime I think about the destruction of Katrina, it brings me back to this photo. This is not the best photo of the scene but what is happening in the photo kinda sums up how much New Orleans is in turmoil.

The prisioners from the prisons down there were forced to spend their time after the hurricane on a bridge. Where they sat for hours/days.

I say let them live in the disaster they all knew New Orleans was capable of being, may be a few days in filth will make them smarten up.

If the destruction of this storm hasn\'t deterred them from acting like a-holes, then nothing will.

I wonder if the casinos in Mississippi removed all of the coins and cash prior to abandoning the riverboat casinos.  If not, I\'m sure we can count on the looters making some explorations of the remaining premises.

when they go beyond the line of desperation (which IMO they are just at), things will change. They will realize that they need help. Either that or they what till the water levels off and starts to recede.

I am sure that the casinos have secured their money.

I guess NBC is suppose to run a telethon for the victims of New Orleans yet, outside of the radio New Orleans talent, they won\'t give any other New Orleans musicians any time on stage.

Hurricane Gloria, 1986

CT

:hscratch: what about it? Though I was only 5ish I dont remember it being all that destructive, my house and garage were still standing, no significant trees came down. Which is saying alot since my garage has been on its last leg for about 40 years. My father prays a good severe thunderstorm storm will take it down every time there is a chance. Anyway, Gloria was 19 years ago, we haven\'t been hit with a significant \'cane since. we are long overdue
This is what i\'m saying. We are long overdue for a ser storm. I think it will happen sooner than later

I agree, it\'s the people who are robbing other people in their homes at gunpoint that is  my issue. I feel each and every one of these criminals should be drowned in the flood waters.

Does anyone know anything about how bad Mississippi has gotten it? I heard that a few towns have been lost completely, mostly the ones in the direct hurricane path.

I only know what I read and see pictures of, but Mississippi seems to have it the worst.  In New Orleans, the buildings are flooded and being looted.  In the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, there are no buildings.

That\'s what I heard too.

Mississippi, I guess, many small towns have been wiped out of existence.

Since most of these people did not have proper insurance, I guess they start where they are right now. Pissed off, homeless and broke.
