Rujah, I want to see you achieve your dream.  I think it\'s great that you want to be a journalist, and that you\'re chasing that dream through schooling.  In the light of that statement I have a challenge for you.

Make an effort to have all future post be grammatically correct.  Writing is a craft that needs to be nurtured and practiced.  This board is a prime location for you to do that.

While I\'m no expert on journalism or writing.  I do know a handful of folks that make their living at area papers and they all have the following in common.  They can quickly translate what they see and hear into a legible story.

What do people think of Eppy 2 compared to Eppy 1?  (The Digests, not the songs.)  What\'s working? What do you want to see more of?  Feedback is much appreciated!  Post here or PM me.

And while you\'re at it, submit something!  I\'d love to see:
-A crazy road trip story
-A story from your first show
-At some point there\'s going to be a major Breakfast trivia quiz!  If you can think of a good question PM it to me.  It doesn\'t have to be hard to be good, the quiz will have different levels of difficulty.  Please do NOT post your questions, just PM them.  If the answer comes up on the forum I\'m not going to then print it.
-A Breakfast poem
-Ideas for a sweepstakes
-Do you really love a Breakfast song?  I want a hardcore, in-depth analysis of one Breakfast song, describing each section of the song and comparing some different performances of it.

500 words or less on all articles.  The shorter it is, the better the chances.  That\'s journalism for ya.  Send to breakfastdigest@hotmail.com  Thanks!

love,
Breakfast Digest

P.S.  Deadline for the Fonghoulish Freakout Edition is OCTOBER 21ST!  You know you want to be in the first ever Fonghoulish Edition.  Get writing and send something in tonight!  Just pretend that your subject is a thread and you\'re making a post.

When you have the fan profiles, I liked when the first issue included the "dot info handle".  I think it helps put faces with names together, for those who aren\'t familiar with all their "fellow SER-Heads".

Besides that, keep up with the good work, I enjoy reading it!

Cool, I\'ll consider going back to that.  It\'s a good benefit, getting to know someone beyond their handle.  What else?

Hate to be this guy, but there is a factual inaccuracy in the latest edition.

We claim that Psychedelic Breakfast played their first show on 10/30/98, which is true. But we also claim that Phish played their first show on 10/30/83, which is wrong. Yes, Phish did claim in Vegas on that night of 10/30/98 that it was their 15th anniversary show, but it was later determined that Phish\'s first show was on 12/2/83. This is verified by the Phish Companion and Phish themselves,
hence the official 20th annivesary show of 12/2/03.

The fundamentals of journalistic ethics dictate that we run a correction in the next edition.

Other than that, it\'s a great piece of promotional material.

Good eye Pitch. Very true about the inaccurate date.

Wolfman, good job on this digest so far, expect it only to get better. It is also so nice to read all of the fan submissions.

Can\'t wait for the next issue.

Incorrect.  The stat is carefully worded to address this situation specifically.

Quote from: Breakfast Digest
The Breakfast played their first show (10/30/98) exactly 15 years to the day after Phish was believed to have played[/U] their first show (10/30/83).

"Was believed" are they key words.  10/30/83 certainly was believed to be the first show for about 17 years by every reputable Phish source including phish.net, the Phish Book, The Pharmer\'s Almanac, and even quotes form the band members themselves.  "Was believed" also implies that this fact is no longer believed to be true.

The stat orginally read straightforwardly, "The Breakfast played their first show 15 years to the day after Phish played their first show."  However, Lord of the Layout Justin Maturo caught it and pointed out the change-of-date fact, and the wording was changed to reflect this situation.  Thanks again to the crack Digest team for their great work.

Bottom line: There is no error in Breakfast Digest Episode 2, only errors in some people\'s interpretation of the English language.  I appreciate the effort though, and welcome all future alerts.  It is intense readers like Chris Pitch who keep us at Breakfast Digest on our toes and making sure we put out the highest quality and most accurate content we can.  Thanks!

How about in the interpretation of where an article continues??? Page 1 articles left/ right are switched on page 3. Not a big problem for anyone with a few brain cells left, but awkward none the less.

But since Phish\'s first show isn\'t on the date we list, there\'s no significance to that stat, and actually, it\'s really not a stat. If I said "A-Rod was believed to have batted .900 this year," you wouldn\'t call it a stat. You\'d call that wrong.
