it was a really hard hit, but i was expecting something gruesome. i would be shocked if i saw it live, but after all the hype i was expecting it to be one of the worst things i have ever seen.

I don\'t know what planet you\'re from where you\'ve seen so many worse collisions than this one.  Don\'t even give me hockey, there has never been a face-on collision like this in hockey, it\'s not possible with helmets and masks, and even if you face plant the wall, at least the wall isn\'t coming at you.

Let me put this into perspective for you:

The human head weighs about 14 pounds, is roughly 10 inches sphere, and the skull is more solid than granite rock.  This gives the human head almost exaxctly the same weight, size, and density as a bowling ball.

Both men were running at about 15 MPH, which means that the impact for each man was the equivalent of 30 MPH.  To throw a 14-pound bowling ball at 30 MPH, you would have to give it the hardest chest-pass you could.

Now I would like you to imagine yourself standing there at the bowling alley.  Your buddy comes around you with his rock-solid, 14-pound bowling ball and, without you even knowing it was coming, he chest-passes it as hard as he can directly into your face from point-blank range.

Now tell me it wasn\'t greusome.

i hear you. i understand what happened and the extent of the injuries. i just wouldnt say "if you\'re squeemish, you may want to look away from your TV." i  have seen things in sports that were harder for me to watch even though the injuries may not have been significant at all.

its not like i was hoping they were more seriously hurt. i am glad it wasnt as bad as i imagined it to be. but i guess any time someone gets carried out in a stretcher in baseball its out of the ordinary. the only sprt i watch is hockey, so maybe im used to it.

if the only sport you watch is hockey, you should be happy to see any collisions at all.

i thought it was pretty brutal considering baseball is a sport where guys go on the DL for sneezing too hard.
