Song Retirement
« on: August 26, 2003, 12:09:57 pm »
I\'ve seen a couple of people mention songs they would like (or at least wouldn\'t mind) for PB to retire.  Does this actually occur?  If PB were to retire a song (original or cover) what would you choose?

I would have to say "Beef Barley".  I think it\'s a great song, but even after only 14 shows it seems like I\'ve heard it enough.

And I know it would cause a ruckus, but what about retiring "Phaddy Boom Baddy"?

i don\'t know about retiring, but i would definitely say it needs a rest (beef)... good choice to \'sit on the bench\' for a while...

i\'d also put no glove no love on the bench..

remember, there\'s no such thing as retirement anymore... they all come back.. :)

I think its cool that PB will always play any song.  But letting some songs go for a while (even the best ones), and then bringing them back randomly after like a year is a good idea too.

\'phaddy\' can deffinatley take a breather. but probably a good one to play on the road. Then bust it out 3 years from now on 4/20.

They should retire every song with more than 3 letters in the name.  That way we can have the perfect show:

LDZ > HDX > jam > HDX > LDZ > HDX > jam > LDZ > LDZ > LDZ > LDZ > HDX > Lit

BIG time disagree with ya Wah...
GBFBITS should be a staple, in my opinion the jam possibilites out of this song are infinite...

I dunno about shelving a tune.  They have so many that when they look at the history of setlists and see a song they just forgot, or just didnt feel like playing in a while (shelved but not on purpose) they should keep in their pocket for a sweet suprise sometime down the road.....

Phaddy Boom Baddy, even though I like many others contributed voice to the studio version,I have to give it the PPPPTTHHHH thumbs down as the worst PB song.......

OK seriously this time...

Phaddy is definitely the #1 overplayed song.  I am sick of it because they play it at every UMass area show every time.  But new people always love it and latch onto it.  I say Phaddy should be shelved within a 200 mile radius of Staven.  Outside of that it should be played often.

? should NOT be shelved...it should be kept as the rare gem that it is.

Fiery Ball need not be shelved either, though I wouldn\'t care if it were not an everyday player.

Bouree and Love Lake can stay on the shelf.

Beef Barley can join them.  Why does it have to stay so late?

Eppy I should get more PTPing, particularly as a jam-extension vehicle a la Son of Simpleton or Funky Bill\'s.
